Trump vs. DeSantis

He didn't say why, he just said he wasn't running..
I missed that.
He specifically didn’t answer the question in the debate with Crist. That tells me he’s at least considering it.
And while I appreciate your sentiment, George, I think I might prefer another Biden term with a Republican Senate and House holding him in check instead of a Lame Term by Lame Donald.

You might be right - many of us have been in favor of a "do-nothing" congress for a long time. But, that, not unreasonably, assumes that the GOP holds both chambers in 2024. It also assume, perhaps unreasonably, that Biden will run again.

Joe ain't runnin', IMO. He's too senile and the Basement Strategy won't work again.

I agree. He's a placeholder.
But for whom?

Surely not Kamala. She polls worse than he does.
But she was always a loser.

If I was DeSantis’ campaign adviser, I would focus my campaign on the following points:
-
14 Days to Flatten the Curve, brought to you by the Trump Administration.
-
Trumpflation… How many billions did Lame Donald just give away? ARP was just the icing on the cake baked by the Twitter in Chief.
-
CRT and Gender Idealogy flourished in schools and curriculum under Trump’s Department of Education…
Contrast that with DeSantis’ record on these issues…
By the way, Trump enters the office as a Lame Duck…

The real link between Trump and inflation is when his hand-picked Fed chief quadrupled the number of dollars in circulation over a couple of months. Not sure that will resonate with the average primary voter.

I would also try to secure some political alliances with some figures that carry some weight in the modern conservative movement but have still tried to keep Trump at arms length. Youngkin, Kemp, etc…

Meh, there were a LOT of Trump supporters that were lifting their eyebrows and getting a little angry about the Trump giveaways…

You’re right, tying it to spending is more politically salient. The base has largely forgotten who Milton Friedman was.

I would also focus on the fact that Lame Donald couldn’t beat Slow Joe… There may or may not have been shenanigans, but really, it never even should have been close enough for shenanigans…

Back to the OP, I’m not sure “DeSanctimonious” has the staying power or the bite of, say, “little Marco” or “low energy” Jeb.

Jon, how do you suppose a Hillary Clinton administration would have differed in this regard? Would you have expected different monetary decisions?

@Horace You’ve asked this before and the answer remains no.
Just verifying that the “real connection” between Trump and inflation you claim, is political messaging nonsense, to be stacked with the rest. But thank you for your transparency.

Would be very nice for everybody but those who take Trump seriously. As a political tool and as a lesser of evils, he got out of hand.

And a second term would be worse.
