It must be so legally muddy about the right to play songs within a political campaign. Clearly you can’t broadcast them. But what else?

I doubt it’s muddy at all. There’s probably a half century of case law as to what constitutes a public performance.

And yet the playing of unlicensed songs by well heeled campaigns continues to be ubiquitous.

Her experience with the song is a great metaphor for her campaign. She thinks she “wont back down” but ultimately the law says she has to.

                    Blame them?

It was a total clusterfuck of an election in Maricopa County. Care to defend that?

                        Absolutely.

Maricopa County was a travesty in 2020. Most people would try to fix their problem. Maricopa managed to make it worse.

Gross incompetence is worthy of derision.

Unless you'd care to defend that.

                          @Jolly

Seems to me if you were genuinely concerned about election procedures and practices, you’d ask the guy in your own party who is in charge.

But if you just used election denialism to grift off the credulous third of the GOP base then you’d make an angry video and walk out.

                              You know what's interesting?

I think Lake was up by 10 points in the polls just before the election. On the down ballot, Republicans picked up more than 100,000 votes than she did.

The first can be explained by mail-in ballots. Don't know if the second one can.

In other news, California is still conting ballots (around 250,000) and won't be through for another week.

Helluva way to run a railroad...

I was reading somewhere (can't find the article right now) that is the Arizona places do not certify, then the state will not count their ballots at all. This could result in a couple of Congress races switching over to the Democrat side.

Kari Lake’s and Mark Finchem’s lawyers haven’t been sanctioned by the court … ”over Lake and Finchem’s lawsuit seeking to ban the use of voting machines in last month’s election, ruling that the suit spread lies about Arizona’s election system being vulnerable to fraud. …”

                                      https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/reidout-blog/lake-finchem-lawsuit-lawyer-sanctions-rcna59806

                                      The court ruling:

                                      https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.azd.1294569/gov.uscourts.azd.1294569.106.0_1.pdf

Among other things, the lawsuit brought by these lawyers on behalf of Lake and Finchem claims that Arizona uses an electronic voting system susceptible to fraud and asked the court to mandate Arizona to use paper ballot instead. But Arizona is still using the paper ballot.
