I went to play this morning, lifted up the keyboard cover and voila! There's a black spot on E5. It won't come off with a little wetting, and it does not appear to be on top of the key - totally smooth. WTF?

I think you may have to live with it; it is probably the black plastic underneath the finish. A friend of mine had a similar problem on his Yamaha stage piano.

Tell people what guitar players tell others when they comment on the scratches and blemishes on their instrument:
