The DOJ is appealing the “special master” decision:

That’s odd. Are you sure that’s correct?
Are you sure they didn’t appeal the injunction on the criminal investigation? That would make more sense

I meant to say that the DOJ is appealing Cannon's Sep. 5 decision. I expect the appeal to also include the "injunction", but we probably have to wait for the appeal brief to see the full scope of the appeal.
-
FWIW, former AG Bill Barr has also came out stating that Cannon's ruling is "deeply flawed in a number of ways":

The DOJ's appeal:

It seems the DOJ is keeping the scope of its appeal rather narrow at this time:
-
"... this motion is limited to the Order’s directives with respect to the seized classified records"
-
In the Conclusion section: "The Court should issue an immediate order staying its September 5, 2022 Order pending appeal to the extent the Order (1) enjoins the further review and use for criminal investigative purposes of records bearing classification markings and (2) requires the government to disclose those classified records to a special master."

Special master identified and getting to work.

"Master?"
I think it was in one of Amazon's "Bosch" episodes where a "Special Master" was appointed after the execution of a search warrant to assure that attorney-client privileged materials were not seized.
I'm not sure how a SM plays here - would Judge Dearie need to have security clearance to ascertain this?

Sorry George.
I was trying to be of humour.
All of my tools are rusty.Actually, I'm pretty sure the big D has always had his household help refer to him with that respectful title of which I will not again repeat.
So, nothing new, just something else to master. -

I would suggest that Trump’s trouble finding lawyers is 1) he has a reputation for not following their advice then blaming them when things go south and; 2) he is notorious for refusing to pay his bills.
One of the serious attorneys on his team demanded and received a $3MM retainer.

Wouldn't you?
Absolutely. The amount is impressive. That’s a lot of legal services, even at these guy’s rates. Obviously he’s baked in an indictment and trial.

For a sense of perspective, though, the Johnny Depp v Amber Heard defamation trial which lasted 6 weeks, and discovery took years, cost between $6 and $8 million.
