The question you should be asking is "What in the hell possessed them to take it in the first place?"

Sorry, My second (or is it third?) cheap Scotch of the evening made me miss that, LOL.

Trump’s current argument seems untenable. If no documentation were required that would give any former POTUS the ability to declassify things for the rest of his life.

Obama could publish the detailed schematics of the Virginia class nuclear fast attack submarines and say “oh, I declassified these in 2007”

Nope, it only gives POTUS the ability to declassify things while he is in office.

The point is if the decision doesn’t need to be documented there’s be nothing stopping them from doing an ex-post claim. Like Trump is probably doing.

I think all of them do, to one extent or another.

                A Tucker Carlson moment….

Trump says they took his three passports. One was expired. How is it that he has two currently valid passports? Is one not American? Or is he issued a Green passport? If so why would he still have a regular passport?

                Just asking.

Very well presented. Thanks, it addresses a lot of questions.

All I can say is that it is murky pond into which this affair is leading.

Very clarifying by a writer concerned with evenhandedness in a matter that started out complex and is growing daily more so. Thanks to QT and Kluurs.

That would have to be an awfully extreme point.

To raid an ex-President's home is beyond the pale, especially the way it was done. If Justice doesn't come up with something big, I mean YUGE, Garland has to go. Wray has to go. And a Special Prosecutor needs to shake the bushes for Whitehouse involvement.

                                    @taiwan_girl said in Mar-a-Lago raided:

"As President, I will enforce all laws relating to classified information......

                                    Nobody is above the law!"

Who said that? President (then candidate) Trump
                                    LOL

To be fair, he did appoint an FBI director who appears to be enforcing that law.

Promise kept! Way to go, Mr Trump!

                                        Lacking specificity?

A couple of posts rom Ken WHite's (@popehat) feed:

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
