RIP Larry

(maybe a bit off topic, so apology in advance)
I thought it was kind of weird that his wife was not mentioned in the summary George posted. My first thought was that his mom and his wife did not get along. :eek
As somebody who is pretty familiar with the funeral biz, the posted obit is only as good as what the immediate family insists on. It's done at the time arrangements are made.
And folks, it's a business. Mark up on caskets is better than 300% in most cases. Formalin is cheap and the embalming process is not that complicated. Cremation is nothing more than a gas oven, lined with refractory brick, with a thermostat and a timer.

Here’s my take. The young lady Sarah is/was a caregiver. For Larry’s mom. And she became live-in. And part of this arrangement, extended over time, to Larry helping out her family in the Philippines. I’ve seen this scenario with caregivers and nannys here. I do worry of his mom.

Right. So, in this case, who is "immediate family?" Obviously, his brother and mother, but not spouse?
They would take the spouse’s direction not the 90 year old mother.
That, indirectly, is my point.

Is it a possibility that his wife / his mother's caregiver doesn't have the paperwork to live in the US legally and hence they didn't mention her? Pure speculuation...

I think it’s just another aspect of his life online that he made up out of whole cloth.
That too is speculation, of course. But I think her non-existence is the most parsimonious explanation of the lack of mention in the obit.

Can I say, I don't much care?
We are what we bring to the media.

I always assumed his wife was real. If she's not, it certainly puts a sadder note on his posts.

I'm not sure that us trying to dissect his life posthumously is really any better than Dewey dancing on his grave.

Pretty clear Trumpification of Jon’s posts.

I don't think Sarah was a Larry creation though his relationship to her may have been enhanced without the benefit of recognition by the state. His passing with such rapidity could leave a bit of a mess for his relations. I hope he had a good lawyer do his planning for him.

Jon: Meh. Funeral was the 3rd.
Jolly: Stay classy, y'hear?
Yep, Larry's service was over two days ago. Five days is long enough for this uncharacteristic sweetness and light. Time to get back to our customary malignant acrimony.

The kids names were Spyder, Wednesday, and Dagger? I remember his mention of Spyder many years ago...the kid is probably 15 by now?
