    Here’s my take. The young lady Sarah is/was a caregiver. For Larry’s mom. And she became live-in. And part of this arrangement, extended over time, to Larry helping out her family in the Philippines. I’ve seen this scenario with caregivers and nannys here. I do worry of his mom.

    @blondie

    I suspect you’re right.

    As already stated, Larry was primary caregiver for his mother. I feel very sorry for her loss.

    Elbows up!

      Right. So, in this case, who is "immediate family?" Obviously, his brother and mother, but not spouse?

      They would take the spouse’s direction not the 90 year old mother.

        That, indirectly, is my point.

          Is it a possibility that his wife / his mother's caregiver doesn't have the paperwork to live in the US legally and hence they didn't mention her? Pure speculuation...

            I think it’s just another aspect of his life online that he made up out of whole cloth.

            That too is speculation, of course. But I think her non-existence is the most parsimonious explanation of the lack of mention in the obit.

                I always assumed his wife was real. If she's not, it certainly puts a sadder note on his posts.

                              I don't think Sarah was a Larry creation though his relationship to her may have been enhanced without the benefit of recognition by the state. His passing with such rapidity could leave a bit of a mess for his relations. I hope he had a good lawyer do his planning for him.

                                Yep, Larry's service was over two days ago. Five days is long enough for this uncharacteristic sweetness and light. Time to get back to our customary malignant acrimony.

                                          Nor do I. In fact, Larry’s marriage to Sarah was very real. I have always maintained that marriage between two people is a state of mind that is expressed through the heart. They were undoubtedly husband and wife even if it was by common law. Nothing at all wrong with it.

                                          Driving back home from BC earlier today the following came up on my iPod playlist in the truck. Immediately made me think of Larry:
