Tonight's bullshit

We got back from some errands today and noticed that a road nearby was leaking. A lot. Several cracks formed, from under which, a pretty hefty volume of water was gushing out.
They're working on it through most of the night. Lots of jackhammers and shit. Here's one section they're working on:
-
Don't worry. It's probably just a major water leak that is caused by a rapidly forming sinkhole, which will engulf several homes in your neighborhood.
Y'all be careful now, y'hear?

You're not too far off.
Probably unrelated, but there's an interesting crack in everyone's driveway. Most people have it in the same spot.
Basically a lot of the houses, including ours, are sliding back into a ravine. If they don't do something about it, they're eventually going to fall and collapse.

Just in case, ya know, you don't have enough to worry about.

@Horace said in Tonight's bullshit:
I hope your home doesn't sink into a ravine Aqua.
Thanks, man.
- It will, it's just a matter of time.
- Probably about a decade out from that; nothing immediate.
- We're one of the few folks in this area to rent. We wanted to wait and get a place we really like. Well, now there's the sinking issue on this entire side of the street. Dodged a geological bullet it seems. Which is about the slowest bullet of all time but it is effective.
-
Day 2. They're saying it was just heavy corrosion of the pipes. Which begs the question about whether they got everything, or if more are going to go in the future.
Anyway the parking lot's a total mess over there.

@Mik said in Tonight's bullshit:
How old is the water main there? Looks pretty new to have main corrosion issues.
Yeah, I thought the same.
About 15 years old.
-
Corrosion in the pipes… Sure…
Was there a strange pulsing red light and ash in the air?

No, but I did find a kid who looked pretty messed up in the ravine.

Way, way too young to be having water main issues. The only exception to that would be if your area's water is particularly corrosive. Even then you would think they would have compensated for that with a different material. Sounds like a builder shortcut.

Also, there's a place just outside of town that's just straightup the Hawkins lab. There's no other way to describe it. Everything fenced off, creepy floodlights everywhere, cheesy looking guard shack with a branded Bronco parked beside it. And these weird freaking spheres in the distance.
It's either Hawkins lab or where they captured Omega Red and do their experiments.

This area's full of crap like that.

Evidently if your row of homes is unstable. A soil engineer should have seen that coming.
Yeah. Should have. They slapped a lot of these together very quickly.
