With my familiarity with what actual workers actually do in actually big companies with actually thousands of employees, my guess is that a reduction in Twitter's work force by 75% will result in zero impact to the Twitter website.

There is a lawsuit being filed by twitter employees, alleging that Musk was legally obligated to provide 60 days notice and retraining opportunities before a large layoff, by CA law.

I saw that as well. I'll bet that his attorneys have already considered that.

"You're fired as of 60 days from now. Here's a list of places you can find training."

When we dismissed one of our partners, we did it without cause, and we gave 90 days.

Zooming out a bit, I’ve been thinking about how a Musk owned Twitter will net out. I don’t have any major conclusions but a few observations at this point.

        1. I think he’s going to be constrained by his advertisers to a much greater extent than his newest fans believe.

        2. At some point he’ll likely realize that his own trollishness is not good for the brand.

        3. He might even see some backlash extend to Tesla.

        4. That doesn’t mean he’ll be able to control himself though. He seems to be pretty impulse driven.

        5. I think he’ll end up taking it public again at some point, perhaps retaining controlling interest through dual share classes. My over/under for such a move is 3 years.

Funny he blames activists rather than his own past statements and current trollishness.

You are in a long line of people who don’t particularly like him and predict his characteristics will be his downfall. Most of those in front of you in line have long since been proven right about his personality and wrong about his success. We will see about this time.

Maybe you’re projecting from your “Tesla’s on its death rattle” days?

I’ve always been a fan of Elon I don’t predict his downfall. I even find his trolling to be funny, which is why I repost some of it here. He’s just going to be constrained is all, and I don’t know if he has the temperament to deal with it.

At one time I was reporting here some discussion I was following about predictions of Tesla’s downfall. In fact the only money I ever put on Tesla was on the long side, which I exited at a small profit.

My guess is that you will be increasingly careful about admitting to being a fan of Elon, and that for all appearances, you will be agreeing with those who consider him a threat.

Yes the FSD thing has always been one of Musk's more impossible claims. I'm happy for you that you remember my wording specifically about a "death rattle", but "we may be listening to a death rattle" differs from "we are listening to a death rattle".

I wonder what the cost in lost advertising is vs the cost of paying off these employees vs the daily losses he states.

                                  On Twitter? C'mon man!

Seems that the "account" that was suspended was not that of Elon Musk @elonmusk, but that of @eIonmusk.

The letter after the "e" is an uppercase "i" in the "suspended" account.

                                  Well played, though.

Speaking of courtesies, I made 5 observations about Musk’s takeover of Twitter. You responded with a comment about me.

Maybe next time address the substance of the post?

To me, it is kind of like the politics saying - "easy to campaign but tough to govern". We will see how it works out with Mr. Musk.

There is a lawsuit being filed by twitter employees, alleging that Musk was legally obligated to provide 60 days notice and retraining opportunities before a large layoff, by CA law.

                                          Musk has lawyers too:

According to emails sent to laid off employees and an internal FAQ obtained by The Verge, those impacted will continue to be paid and receive benefits until dates that appear to match the length of the mass layoff notice required by US federal and state law. If they sign a “Release of All Claims” document and separation agreement, all US employees will then receive one month of base pay as severance that is taxed at the higher supplemental income rate.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
