This would be a great weekend getaway

@LuFins-Dad Yeah I can empathize. It really supports the cliché of "the days are long but the years are short"
-
The years when the kids were very young are nothing but a blur for me now - it was just nuts. Then suddenly, they're no longer little kids, and it feels more than a bit like being in mourning for something.
I really miss those days - everything was a lot busier, but also a lot simpler.

I can empathize. I have to wake up at 8 am to take my dogs out. Sometimes I can’t get to bed before 9 pm. Then I have to take a shower at least every other day.
....and then the murders began

How does that explain Aqua, though?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
6 AM - 8:45 AM
Sometimes I wake up early to do photo things. Lately I've been doing long exposures with a Holga.8:45 - 9 AM
At this point, I definitely wake up, then get tea ready.9 AM - 11 AM
Morning meetings + tea ingestion.11 AM - 5 PM
A juggle between my work, my wife's work, and taking care of the kiddo. My wife's company laid off everyone with her job title a couple weeks ago, so she's a contractor now, treated terribly and it's beyond a nightmare. So on the one hand, she's checked out and is a little more flexible with her time, but on the other, day care isn't an option at present. So each day we play games with the kiddo, read books, go on walks, have lunch together, tear through coloring books and whatever else. Some days I'm never around for this, some days my wife isn't because of meetings + interviews. It all depends. No, it's not ideal. Yes, it's reality until we figure out next steps.5 PM - 8 PM
Family time. Also making dinner (usually my thing), going on errands together. House stuff together if it's around to do.8 PM - kiddo crashes. I do a story with her and we roshambo for who stays with her until she passes out. (She's at that age now.)
9 PM - 2 AM
When I worked in offices, I could at least be by myself for some portions of the day. Not so now. There's always someone around. Always. Which I am not good at. So by 9 PM or so, my wife and I will either read stuff together, watch stuff together, or she declares me officially insufferable to be around. (You've met me. How often do you think this happens?) So this is when I might do stuff like games, photo editing, working on my bike, riding said bike, etc.On the weekends we hit the house stuff harder, in addition to getting out and doing longer family activities. Hiking, riding bikes, just walking around, etc.

Yeah, see, I now have 3-4 hours back per day because I don't do the DC commute. Also since we're home during the day, we do stuff like thaw out something for dinner around lunchtime or take the trash out between meetings. That stuff can add up.
In February 2020 I had something much closer to your schedule.
-
Love being retired - every day is Saturday (though, when I was working, "Saturdays" and "Sundays" didn't mean much).
5:00 AM - usually wake at this time, though not uncommon for it to be an hour earlier.
6:00 AM - check blogs, emails, social, and, of course TNCR. Find funny pics to post.
6:30 to 7 AM - continue above, more web browsing.
7: 00 AM - Coffee, coffee. Shower, feed the kids, and dress.
8:00 AM - retire to "guest room" to either read or watch a movie/TV show
11:30 -12:00 PM - prepare lunch, probably something microwaveable.
12:30 - 4:00 PM - either continue with 8 AM agenda or visit with D4 and G2
4:00 PM - Try to figure out what's for dinner - order in or cook.
6:00 PM - consume what the decision from (above) was.
7:00 PM - watch news, browse web, etc.
8:45 PM - eyes rolling back in head. Trying to stay awake.
9:00 PM - surrender to need for sleep. Go to bed.
9:02 PM - fall asleep. All of these differ based on what errands/appointments are planned: Doctors', horseback riding lessons, shopping, etc.
-
Really interesting to read these schedules, although @Copper (ok, maybe @George-K ) wins.
@LuFins-Dad I can see why that is one blur of a schedule. @Aqua-Letifer yours has a lot of stuff I think you probably appreciate now, and will even moreso looking back on it. Good work, daddio.
Last summer when our (then 10-month old) kid was at the stage where he could walk but would either need to have his hand held or would fall every 3 seconds was exhausting. Even being in the back yard trying to do ANY chore felt like 1 minute of progress for 10 minutes of non-work. This year it's better since the kid is more stable, although now he likes to get into rocks, throw them, and climb every thing in sight. Anyway....he also is teething and doesn't sleep well so the days are long but there are pros and cons to each phase of life it seems. While I look forward to eventual retirement and playing golf daily, or traveling, or whatever... I know that also comes without having a 1 and 3 year old who are really a blast to play with right now. "Daddy, let's play monster chase!" is something I hear every 5 minutes
from my wife.
