Battle or meat grinder for Adiivka continues. Russian losses estimated at 13:1.
Suspect George’s video above documents what is happening on the ground there: -

And this is happening as well:

@Wim That is interesting. China is pretty much the only major trading partner for Russia now. If they lose China...........
It is surprising that Chian would do this. With all of the domestic problems (including exports) they are having, I wonder the reasoning.

Putin wants to talk about ceasefire?

https://www.kyivpost.com/post/28053I almost stopped reading at "Russia says," but I see that the US insists that Kyiv be part of the talks, and Putin said nyet.

Beware of "Track II". The Kurds have experienced something alike.

This issue was debated here three months ago in December. The US must be at the table along side Ukraine as honest broker, arbitrator and guarantor. It’s all about winning the peace.

The Kremlin has wasted no time in denying it made such an offer to the US:
That probably means that the report is true. Besides, Putin as much as said in his sermon/lecture to FuCa last week that he is prepared to negotiate Ukraine’s continued existence with any sitting US president. Makes sense, since Putin rejects the notion that Ukraine is a sovereign country or even exists.

@Renauda said in The Ukraine war thread:
As John Bolton stated in a recent interview “Putin thought Trump was a fool who could be easily manipulable if he could get him the right situations”. Putin certainly recognized that Trump admired the other strong man leaders like Erdogan, Xi and Kim. Moreover, he saw Trump as a force set out to weaken if not altogether dissolve NATO.
Trump sold out the Kurds to Erdogan so why, in his little narcissistic brain, should the Ukrainians be not be sold out to Putin?
3D Chess by President Putin???????

Speaking in an interview with a correspondent of Russian state television, Putin declared that he will work with any U.S. leader who is elected, but noted unequivocally that he would prefer Biden’s victory when asked who would be a better choice from the point of view of Russia.
“Biden, he’s more experienced, more predictable, he’s a politician of the old formation,” Putin said. “But we will work with any U.S. leader whom the American people trust.”

GOP campaign ad - right there.

Traditionally the Kremlin has always preferred Republican administrations for their consistency in policy. I recall during the Carter administration following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, a Soviet diplomat once saying something to the effect that “while the Republicans say bad things about us, the Democrats do bad things to us”. It was no secret that Brezhnev and Gromyko got along famously with Nixon and Kissinger and that Reagan and GWH Bush got on well with Gorbachev. The apparent close relationship between Clinton and Yeltsin was something of an anomaly and was actually fraught with a lot of behind the scenes disagreements that eventually led to lasting resentment.
My feeling then is that Peskov and the Kremlin are blowing smoke. Putin insisted a week ago that he has never spoken with Biden since the meeting in Switzerland prior to 24 February 2022 or, at least, can’t recall the last time he did. As Dr. George pointed out the Kremlin’s statement is a campaign ad for the GOP.
