Still no stories about Covid spread due to protests

Well, here's my nasty statement for the day...I'd rather see rioters buried due to the virus, than choir members.

The thread title was about COVID spread. That may be about the regulations, but to do so would only inflame the situation and further crowd the petri dishes of the jails.

We were pilloried with stories about gatherings without masks and just look at what is happening in all the cities around the country over the last 48 hours.
And nary of a peep. Did the cities move from the red zone to the green zone? What are the new social distancing guidelines, is this even a thing anymore?
I feel gaslight.

There's a lag from about 10-15 days between when someone gets infected, and when they seek hospitalization. If you feel gaslit it's because you haven't looked into this properly and you seek conclusions that fit your worldview about the economy.

I don't think we have to wait for data to know whether these riots are a Covid spreading no-no.

Must mean the masks are effective!

It's too early. The riots have been going on less than a week.
+1.
I'm tracing weekly growth rates of the top 20 states.
Minnesoooota already leads the pack. We'll see what happens in 2 weeks time.

My guess is the impact will be material. Though it helps that it's all occurring outside.

BTW, I agree it's way too soon to see cases pop up from the riots. With these being outdoor events and many wearing masks of various types, perhaps not much of a spike in new Covid cases will occur. Of course, the rioters may become asymptomatic carriers, and spread it to their family and friends, who can then spread it some more.
At least the rioters who came here from other states can take it back home again. A gift that keeps on giving!

My slant was really about main stream media ridicule of those who don’t abide by the lockdown and states where the lockdown is easing and what that means for spread and how not wearing masks is causing round 2. So here we are with super spreader events all across the country and the media is struggling to tell us a story of why these protests are important.
I mean WTF.

Deviating from this particular narrative is a huge, huge no-no. You have to believe in ACAB or you hate minorities. Sadly that's where we're at right now.

All of America's dumbest cultural ideas are around race. They exist because everybody is terrified of being seen thinking about anything beyond the sharp good vs evil outlines the narrative has painted.

Well, @Loki now we have the Associated Press writing about
“Massive U.S. Protests Raise Fears Of New Coronavirus Outbreaks”,
and it’s carried by the Huffington Post:https://www.huffpost.com/entry/protests-raise-fears-coronavirus-outbreaks_n_5ed3966bc5b6535fe4b8b3ca
“Health experts fear that silent carriers of the virus who have no symptoms could unwittingly infect others at protests where people are packed cheek to jowl, many without masks.”
Now that we’ve got this one covered, maybe you can go find another topic on which to blame the press of bias.
Oh, shame on Trump‘s CDC for not publishing any public health guidelines on how to safely protest/riot during the COVID-19 pandemic.

That’s the worst part. No true and effective change can be effected without addressing the root of the problem. Unfortunately, the racist theme WILL carry the day, and all we can do is watch in astonishment and dismay as they proceed to make things worse.

Yeah. You found an article. I actually don’t believe you believe it proved your case so why would I?

Dude it's going to take about 2 weeks to see, that's the lag time.

What's the epidemiological lesson if we don't see a spike? It seems silly to wait for data when we already think we know good vs bad practice.

That's when you dig into comorbidities.

Nothing. If no spike, it'll mean mostly that more protesters than not were wearing masks.
