Boomer Esiason calls it for the Washington Admirals. I doubt that because that's the name of a hockey team.

I still think they should have kept the name Redskins and changed the logo.

Someone said washingtonadmirals.com forwards to the real washington football website, but I said anyone can do that with their domain name, so it's not proof. Sounds like it'll either be that or the Commanders.

Anyway... my issue is if they keep the red (sorry, burgundy) color...that is the same thing as "redskin" in the name. Where do fans think the red color comes from?

That sounds oppressive. I'm sure someone will complain.

In this area, they are still the Redskins.

That will take a while to change.

Apparently Joe Theismann has revealed the new name 2 days early.

"I think the Commanders is a name that is going to be hopefully one that people talk about going forward," Theismann said on CBS' D.A. Show on Monday.

@copper That's what I keep telling my buddies. I say, "you do realize why they have red/burgundy in their colors, right?" Oh but no one can say the word redskins, now. (I still do)

Yeah a chopper flew over the stadium and used a massively zoomed in camera to see that there was "Commanders" gear in an office.

BTW, the nickname is: Washington Commies (no joke), you would think someone in the front office would've realized that on day 1 of the new name selection process.

Did they focus test any of this? The name rollout has been a laughingstock with leaks everywhere, NOBODY likes the name, I think it’s time they cleared house in the ownership group.

                                    1. They should have kept the original name.
                                    2. Barring that, they should have changed the name to Warriors and they wouldn't have even had to tamper with the logo.

Call me contrarian but Commanders seems like a decent name for a football team. Also “commies” doesn’t seem a natural short because of the difference in pronunciation of the O sound.
