Biden to mandate vaccination or weekly testing for companies over 100 employees
-
Wow.
I hope this brings @Loki back...
-
Why stop at 100? Why not require all businesses? Do small businesses have more rights and less responsibility?

California professor sues over vaccine mandate, says he has natural immunity
Duh

It would actually be more legitimate for him to just demand everybody either be vaccinated or tested regardless of the status of employment. And frankly, there are enough breakthrough cases that they should really demand 100% testing, period.

And that's actually the weakest argument.
Which is?

New Studies Find Evidence Of 'Superhuman' Immunity To COVID-19 In Some Individuals
Some scientists have called it "superhuman immunity" or "bulletproof." But immunologist Shane Crotty prefers "hybrid immunity."
"Overall, hybrid immunity to SARS-CoV-2 appears to be impressively potent," Crotty wrote in commentary in Science back in June.
No matter what you call it, this type of immunity offers much-needed good news in what seems like an endless array of bad news regarding COVID-19.
Over the past several months, a series of studies has found that some people mount an extraordinarily powerful immune response against SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19. Their bodies produce very high levels of antibodies, but they also make antibodies with great flexibility — likely capable of fighting off the coronavirus variants circulating in the world but also likely effective against variants that may emerge in the future.
Immunity To COVID-19 Could Last Longer Than You'd Think

Immunity To COVID-19 Could Last Longer Than You'd Think
"One could reasonably predict that these people will be quite well protected against most — and perhaps all of — the SARS-CoV-2 variants that we are likely to see in the foreseeable future," says Paul Bieniasz, a virologist at Rockefeller University who helped lead several of the studies.

It was the best speech he has given to date.
Lots of speechifying, little substance as to how he's going to implement this.
REmember, he's the guy that said, during the campaign, that he wouldn't trust a vaccine developed while Trump was president.
Were you wrong then, or are you wrong now, Joe?
-
I agree as a pragmatic matter. Good luck with enforcement.

I agree. I'm not even sure he can do it for federal employees and contractors.
That has a direct impact on my company. We have service contracts in place with several Military Bands, Walter Reed, NIH, and routinely sell or rent instruments to the government. Everybody that has involvement with those projects (me, the operations manager, technician/tuner, and delivery crew are all vaccinated but none of us like the idea of being forced to be vaccinated and forcing our staff to be vaccinated.

I don't like it either. I'd like them to be putting out more reliable information about relative risk and the benefit of vaccination. Persuasion above coercion. I'm afraid what he is doing may backfire and simply make the antivaxxers more entrenched in their position.

I thought we were supposed to be approaching Herd Immunity according to the CDC? The southern surge is dropping, we can expect a few more Delta surges elsewhere in the country, but the Boosters to the most at risk should mitigate the effects. Is this a solution in search of a problem?

Provides cover for companies to issue their own mandates.
I don’t really see this as news, the train left the station weeks ago. As more people get vaccinated schools will be able to stay open, less people will die and healthcare institutions will be able to address the needs of their employees and patients much better. Wins all around. If the goal is to eliminate all naysayers in life you will never succeed, you just need our institutions rowing in the same direction.
Mostly this is about stemming the slide in the polls.
