Texas Public Schools and Mask Mandates

Texas Gov. Abbott bans public schools from mandating masks. One public school district trying to get around that by writing masks into the dress code, arguing that the Governor’s ban does not usurp its right to decide on its own dress code.
What’s wrong the these Governors?
Nothing is wrong with them. What's wrong with you?

From the newsletter by the Superintendent of a Texas school district:
”A parent physically assaulted a teacher by ripping a mask off her face, others yelling at a teacher to take off her mask because they could not understand what the teacher was saying while her face was covered.”

Show me the science that proves that masks reduce the spread of covid among kindergartners. Hell, show me the science that proves masks reduce the spread of ANYTHING. The simple fact is, you cant. Since there is no science that proves that masks work, the view of mask wearing is caused by something other than scientific evidence, or logic. "What's wrong" with these governors is that they are attempting to follow the Constitution. Those who think making grade school and kindergarten kids wear a mask are basing their view on a politically correct lie, A lie that you are receptive to because it is a lie told by the politics you subscribe to. It is particularly untenable to you because your political affiliates have little to no use for the concept of individual rights and all that this entails. It's just not something you see as having any value.
Your political tribe tells you what to think, not science. Yet your political tribe screams "follow the science" so loud you think you are.
That's what's wrong with these governors. They are following the science, while you are following an ideological narrative.

It's only a theory.

Masks seem to be an issue limited to the US and political philosophy? Do I have that right?
Yes, basically the same people that believe Trump won.
And that vaccines are not to be trusted.
"They're following the science" is a tough one to keep a straight face on.

I am not weighing in on mask effectiveness but understanding the origins and extent of anti masking.
Yes, of course
We have no real way to quantify their effectiveness.
Here is one way:
It is obvious, just common sense, that masks save lives
Shut upHere is another way:
It is obvious, just common sense, that masks are useless, even harmful
Shut up -
We've managed in America to politicize reality. It's really quite amazing. It basically bankrupts the marketplace of ideas.
-
This is clearly a politically motivated action.
Personally, I think schools should be able to make the decision themselves, since they're the ones putting themselves on the line.
Not everybody gets Regeneron treatment despite being asymptomatic, like the hero governing Texas.

Actually there is a crap ton of credible scientific evidence that masks help prevent transmission of COVID. To deny that is simply delusional.
69% of Americans approve of a mask mandate. In today’s world that is about as bipartisan as life gets. Even 44% of Republicans….but in Florida and Texas the governors will get re-elected regardless and anti mandate holds the base together to keep motivated to vote.

We're trying, but I think that's not possible. All we can do is fool ourselves and boy, are we getting good at that!

All of you
Just shut up
I mean, I like absurdist performance art as much as the next guy, even in written form only, but fair go, man, don't you think it's gone too far?

I cannot think of anything else that 69% of Americans agree on. It actually shows we might not be as divided as we think.

There's tons we agree on. If we're talking about it, it means we don't agree on it. The perception that we agree on nothing is really just the perception that people are talking.
