Israeli data on vaccines and Delta variant

I think that New Yorker article mik posted via piano dad ( strongly recommended) makes it clear
Waning antibodies allow breakthrough infection but T cell response immediately shuts down severe disease. And T cell response may have an enduring effect. Let’s hope.

Severe means SaO2 under 93%.
Hell I spent years under 93.
Well when it’s chronic that’s ok. U compensate. It’s a the acute setting which is more concerning.

I’m glad to see the partially vaccinated data. We have a lot of partially vaccinated people but the articles I’ve seen have just focused on 1 group or the other.
I would be interested in see a comparison vs Alpha when everyone was unvaccinated.

Any word on whether those actually infected by Delta and then recovered may get reinfected again by Delta?
I would also be curious about the “breakthrough” rate for those that had Alpha…

Well, that explains a lot...

Those are really good questions about variants and subsequent T-cell immunity...

The thing I’m hearing is the vaxed may be severe, but they get downgraded quickly, short hospital stays and most discharged quickly.
How sick to they get, and what is "quickly?"

Don’t have that. But delta has been here only about 4-5 months. Probably imported from England when travel was basically easy.
So I think most breakthroughs are from alpha.

What about Long Covid? Cases not severe enough to be hospitalized, but long recovery and lingering nastiness… Any differences between vaccinated vs unvaccinated?

Don’t have data on that
