I think that New Yorker article mik posted via piano dad ( strongly recommended) makes it clear

Waning antibodies allow breakthrough infection but T cell response immediately shuts down severe disease. And T cell response may have an enduring effect. Let’s hope.

Well when it’s chronic that’s ok. U compensate. It’s a the acute setting which is more concerning.

I’m glad to see the partially vaccinated data. We have a lot of partially vaccinated people but the articles I’ve seen have just focused on 1 group or the other.

I would be interested in see a comparison vs Alpha when everyone was unvaccinated.

I have an annual checkup this month. I will ask my PC to add a titer test since I take methotrexate for mild RA.

Those are really good questions about variants and subsequent T-cell immunity...

@george-k have pneumonia but need ICU care for only a few days. No weeks long hospitalization. Recover more often than not

Don’t have that. But delta has been here only about 4-5 months. Probably imported from England when travel was basically easy.

So I think most breakthroughs are from alpha.

What about Long Covid? Cases not severe enough to be hospitalized, but long recovery and lingering nastiness… Any differences between vaccinated vs unvaccinated?
