Just another non-PC dumb question from me.

So...lately we see many press conferences by governors.

Sign language interpreters are seen to next to them.

First, don’t most channels/TVs have sophisticated closed captioning now?

Second, isn’t there software that can instant-caption too? For example, Google Hangout video calls you can turn on live captioning. Pretty cool.

American Sign Language isn’t a direct word for word translation into English. Particularly for those who have been deaf from birth (and have limited experience with standard English) the interpreters can be easier to understand.

About two years ago, Mrs. George and I went to see "Jersey Boys."

Right next to the stage, on the seating floor, was a couple that were signing the dialog and the tunes. I found it distracting.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Rich good to know. I learned ASL basics when my sister needed it when she was younger, it’s funny how I still remember what I had learned way back then, even without practicing.
