    @mik said in SOTU:

He did well, except that pretty much all of what he proposed will not come to pass.

And the accomplishments he pointed too were put in place by the last guy.

Yeah, says the guy who got vaccinated before he was sworn in because of policies put in place by that other guy.

Tell that to the sailors at Pearl Harbor or the guys at FDNY about 20 years ago.

        400,000,000.

At one time, people said a COVID vaccine could not be made in a year. Under the leadership of President Trump, we made three. And bought 400,000,000 doses.

To be honest, we are still making vaccine to achieve that number, but the makers are using Trump money to do it. Mr. Biden is just riding the wave.

Didn’t Pfizer do it without government help because it was faster? Didn’t the government fumble the order of vaccines resulting in thousands of unnecessary deaths? Didn’t Trump deny the seriousness of the disease for like half a year?

Have you ever worked with the FDA on a clinical pharmaceutical trial or done the work necessary to approve a new test or testing platform?

If not, you don't have a clue on what mountains were moved to accomplish this, regardless of money. Although we certainly did spend the money.

                  1. Warpspeed wasn’t simply money. Pfizer still benefited.

                  2. Yes, many STATE governments did screw it up. We don’t really know the cost of their mistakes.

                  3. You have your mind made up on that matter so it’s not really worth debating.

I’ve said many times that Trump did many great things while in office. I’ve also said his handling of the covid response and his politically unforgivable refusal to accept election results will be his legacy. I try to keep my opinions of the accomplishments and blunders in 2020 pretty apolitical, but I doubt you’ll believe that.

Biden's taking credit for what was done by the prior administration was predictably slimy.

But the real vacuousness of his positions, however nice they might sound, can be found in his claim that preschool, not daycare, is the single largest predictor of a child's educational success. The fallacy there is it does not take into account that folks who put their kids in preschool prioritize their education. Again, it's the home and parents that make the difference, not just the child attending. If it is free they will take it but it won't make failing districts succeed.

Most of his proposed programs are like that. The 'American Jobs' act will produce blue collar jobs. Swell. Who is going to fill those jobs and what do we do with this new generation of blue collar workers as automation continues to make their jobs unnecessary? Roofers today have to hire illegals because Americans won't do that work for the most part. Besides that convenience stores around here are having to shut down at night because he extended unemployment subsidies to September and no one in their right mind would work for essentially nothing.

But the real vacuousness of his positions, however nice they might sound, can be found in his claim that preschool, not daycare, is the single largest predictor of a child's educational success. American won't do that kind of work, because in many places unemployment benefits are figuring out to $17/hr.

@Jolly, have you watched Biden’s speech yet?
Found any evidence of senility or mental decline?
