No, it’s ad’s advising them not to get the transplant from a hospital that purchases organs from traffickers that do the killing. And that is a different ethical question.

I've been where the rubber meets the road. We've had multiple JH patients over the years that badly needed transfusions. Most of the tine, the doc looks them in the eye and tells them it's get the blood or die. Most take the blood.

But more than one has said no. And of those, most died.

I respect that. Their faith may be misguided, in my opinion, but they durn sure have it.

It's OK to condemn something as stupid while defending people's rights to do those stupid things.

As long as one's decision does not hurt others and every one gets to make his own informed decision, I suppose that's good enough.

Is morality fixed, or is morality flexible given need, historical perspective and necessity?

This will go nowhere fast, IMO. Take the vaccine and then with your newfound longevity, work towards the greater good for the rest of your life.

Unless of course they're refusing the treatment on behalf of somebody else, who is either too young or is incapacitated to such an extent to prevent them from making the decision for themselves, in which case common sense would hopefully prevail.

Been there - "If you don't get a transfusion tonight, you're going to die. Are you prepared for that?"

He refused the transfusion.

Miraculously, he survived the surgery for about 3 days. He continued to bleed (ruptured AAA) and then, in the ICU, against his wishes, he was given a transfusion. Died anyway.

No, I don't know if there was any fallout from that.
