Nothing about that on the news.

Hey, it's not reported on a daily basis here, either, although it is every night somewhere in the city.

Liz Cheney’s interview with Chris Wallace of Fox News:

      Link to video

Posted it elsewhere, but it’s an important window to where the GOP may go post Trump, so tracking it here too.

Pretty much. Many old style GOP voters would rather have anything but what’s on the Democrat menu. A fragile coalition of hard core Trumpsters and urban socially liberal GOP. If GOP alienates the Trump base it has no firm idea how to replace it.

Michigan Senator Mike Shirkey Thinks Capitol Riot Was 'Staged,' Mitch McConnell Was 'Part of It'

Shirkey's comments were recorded in a video that was posted on YouTube after he met with members of the Hillsdale County Republican Party. The local GOP group later voted to censure him for not supporting former President Donald Trump enough and for failing to stand up to Governor Gretchen Whitmer with regard to the Second Amendment and COVID-19 restrictions.
The conversation began as a meeting about his upcoming censure but turned attention to the Capitol riot. When asked "What about the D.C. thing?" Shirkey called it a "hoax from day one."

Sharkey is a state senator, likely thousands in the US. How many times are we going to quote these people? There are so many fringe examples on both sides.

I have said many times quoting state critters is diving into the mosh pit. It’s so crazy to make it national news is just abusive as most people don’t catch the big asterisk.

So your state senate leader said something crazy, okay, well that state congressperson stuff happens many times a day. You gonna cherry pick?

I think we can all agree that the coverage of the event meant to present a hoax.

A few doofusses taking selfies were not going to overthrow anything.

I probably wouldn't post it if it's only Sharkey saying some crazy things. I post it because there is also the compounding factor of the county GOP censuring Shirkey for "not supporting Trump enough" after Shirkey saying those crazy things. Putting the two together gives us a window into how state/county GOP works in the post-Trump environment.

If you wish, you can try to find examples of Democratic state senate majority leaders saying crazy things and then have state/county Democratic parties censuring him/her for "not supporting Obama/Clinton/Biden enough," then we can compare notes to see if there really is any equivalence or somehow the Trump-supporting GOP wing is "more special."

Sharkey is a state senator, likely thousands in the US.

Sharkey is a state senate majority leader; there are only 50 of those in the US.

I have said many times quoting state critters is diving into the mosh pit. It’s so crazy to make it national news is just abusive as most people don’t catch the big asterisk.

So your state senate leader said something crazy, okay, well that state congressperson stuff happens many times a day. You gonna cherry pick?

So I spent some time and see that he apologized for calling the riot a hoax as well as being staged and what he said about McConnell. And the censure had about 15 points in it of which the stuff you highlighted was two or three. I had to get all that by piecing together several articles. Do you concur with what I just said as it seems relevant to the entire picture.

All they needed to do was lock the Capitol doors.
