One senator said that instead of impeachment, there should be an official letter "condemn" the riot and any part played by President Trump.

I think this makes alot of sense. I have never think that this impeachment was worthwhile.

Regarding the comment: "weird worship on one dude" is true. Amazing (and kind of weird) the amount of passion that President Trump gets from a certain % of people. It is like the passion for Kim Il Sung (and his descendants) in the DPRK. Strange.

Trump didn't "whip the electorate" into anything. Please. It was a very small group of zealots. And if anybody would like to deal with that reality, then also deal with the reality of CHAS and Portland.

      Well, let's see now.
Today is Feb. 6th. Ax, check your watch batteries, send a little dinky battery to Jon if you can.

Anything going on today, Feb. 6th? Probably not. I mean, if this stuff was daily, the media would report on it every evening on the MSN Nightly News, and all of our left-wingers would be aware of it and would not bring it up.

Oh, wait. Let me help for today, Feb. 6th. Maybe there will be nice riot footage later this evening, if there is anything left to bust-up in downtown Portland. It's cold outside, so these anti-fascists are certainly helping PDX by continuing to burn down useless stores every night or so:

Nothing about that on the news.

EVERYONE knows that black is slimming.
That's the first thing fat people learn as soon as they are old enough to realize they are fat.

So why do the fat women in a protest march wear grey?
          Ax, why is that, huh??

And if marching is what they "do" in their lives, why haven't they lost weight so they could confidently wear grey?
          Ax, why is that, huh??

Larry would know. I wish Larry would help straighten everyone out.

BTW I don't mean straighten like "straight" white males, because the fat ones are female, or maybe not straight females, they might well be pronoun-peopled people, and oops they are not white because they can't be because white especially males are evil and part of the centuries-old patriarchy stuff. Geez, one entire paragraph trying to explain why I dared to use "straight" let alone "white."
Maybe that's why they wear grey, I mean mix black and white, and what color do you get?? Ax, tell 'em bud, you know this!!
          Grey panthers. They're baaaaack!!

Hey, it's not reported on a daily basis here, either, although it is every night somewhere in the city.

Posted it elsewhere, but it’s an important window to where the GOP may go post Trump, so tracking it here too.

Pretty much. Many old style GOP voters would rather have anything but what’s on the Democrat menu. A fragile coalition of hard core Trumpsters and urban socially liberal GOP. If GOP alienates the Trump base it has no firm idea how to replace it.

Michigan Senator Mike Shirkey Thinks Capitol Riot Was 'Staged,' Mitch McConnell Was 'Part of It'

Shirkey's comments were recorded in a video that was posted on YouTube after he met with members of the Hillsdale County Republican Party. The local GOP group later voted to censure him for not supporting former President Donald Trump enough and for failing to stand up to Governor Gretchen Whitmer with regard to the Second Amendment and COVID-19 restrictions.
The conversation began as a meeting about his upcoming censure but turned attention to the Capitol riot. When asked "What about the D.C. thing?" Shirkey called it a "hoax from day one."

                            ——

Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey claims that the Jan.6 Capitol riot was a hoax, accused McConnell for being in on the hoax, then he got censured by the Hillsdale County GOP for not supporting Trump enough.

Sharkey is a state senator, likely thousands in the US. How many times are we going to quote these people? There are so many fringe examples on both sides.

I have said many times quoting state critters is diving into the mosh pit. It’s so crazy to make it national news is just abusive as most people don’t catch the big asterisk.

So your state senate leader said something crazy, okay, well that state congressperson stuff happens many times a day. You gonna cherry pick?

Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey claims that the Jan.6 Capitol riot was a hoax, accused McConnell for being in on the hoax, then he got censured by the Hillsdale County GOP for not supporting Trump enough.

                                      What are these people thinking?

Shirkey called it a "hoax from day one."

I think we can all agree that the coverage of the event meant to present a hoax.

A few doofusses taking selfies were not going to overthrow anything.

You're probably right. T'was a mere trifle in the scheme of things.

Sharkey is a state senator, likely thousands in the US.

Sharkey is a state senate majority leader; there are only 50 of those in the US.

I have said many times quoting state critters is diving into the mosh pit. It’s so crazy to make it national news is just abusive as most people don’t catch the big asterisk.

So your state senate leader said something crazy, okay, well that state congressperson stuff happens many times a day. You gonna cherry pick?

I probably wouldn't post it if it's only Sharkey saying some crazy things. I post it because there is also the compounding factor of the county GOP censuring Shirkey for "not supporting Trump enough" after Shirkey saying those crazy things. Putting the two together gives us a window into how state/county GOP works in the post-Trump environment.

If you wish, you can try to find examples of Democratic state senate majority leaders saying crazy things and then have state/county Democratic parties censuring him/her for "not supporting Obama/Clinton/Biden enough," then we can compare notes to see if there really is any equivalence or somehow the Trump-supporting GOP wing is "more special."
