I very seldom make stuff like this. It was pretty fun and my mandoline worked beautifully. In the oven now.
Recipe saved.
Thanks, Mik!
We will see if it's good. I've never made scalloped potatoes before.
@Mik I love scalloped spuds, but MY favorite redhead might be skeptical of the ham. On a first try, I might skip that.
I didn't put the ham in with it. It's such a beautiful ham steak, I just couldn't bear to cube it up.
@Mik said in My Favorite Redhead requested...:
Good decision.
I haven’t had scalloped potatoes in ages. My mom made them all the time.
And I have potatoes.
Well, they're not exactly health food. Which is why I don't make such things regularly. Lots of salt and fat. I generally only get stuff like that at pot lucks and funerals.
Out of the oven. I should not have put cheese on top. Oh well. Live and learn.
@Mik ignore the crunchy bits and embrace the wonderful cheesiness.
What kind of spuds did you use, russet?
We're having ham and potatoes tonight!
Yup Russet. But I like the crispy bits best. The ham steak was incredible - very low salt, all smoky flavor.
I didn't know you played mandolin..............
Now you watch... the Trump bashers will start saying I recommend putting mandolins in the oven....
@Larry aren’t they that lizard that started the covid thing?
