What’s going to be the bigger shit show today?

people who would sooner move to the moon than publicly admit they were wrong in who they gave their political support to.
For the record
Given a choice between Ms. Clinton and Mr. Trump
I choose Mr. Trump every time, no question, not even close
Given a choice between Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump
I choose Mr. Trump every time, no question, not even close
I'm sure you all realize I can't forgive impolite behavior, but given the options, the choice remains.

I don't think I was wrong in my vote this time around.
But you also said he fucked up. You even went so far as to say you'd be okay if they explored the 25th as an option. That's a nuanced position to take, but not only is that okay, it's what we're desperately more in need of. Nuanced opinions about complicated matters.
What's not okay and actually pathetic is downplaying yesterday's events, blaming liberals for the invasion and not the sitting president who egged the right-wing extremists on, attempting to discredit myriad state and federal leaders who criticized the president, and attacking people here simply because self-image is more important than facts and relationships.

What I still cannot fathom is what he - and the protestors - expected to happen. What could possibly have been accomplished? I do not think he is principled enough to have wanted a symbolic act although that was the absolute best thing that could, in my mind anyway, have come out of the day.
A good old friend of mine was there. I saw pictures of him climbing the scaffolding and standing on the portico. After the rawness of this wears off I will have to have a conversation with him about it.
The sheer senselessness of it is why I would support invoking the 25th. His judgement is not to be trusted at this point.

Exactly my thought on the 25th as well.
Another fun thing: you know what I see absolutely every damn where online today? Videos of black protesters getting tear-gassed outside of Lafayette juxtaposed with the selfie cops from yesterday. Many, many groups of people can share the blame for all of that, but like last year's riots, yesterday made things so much worse for so many people. It ginned up the Qanon fuckers, BLM extremists, and made it harder for everyone else to just live their lives uninvolved.

I'd just like say I don't have a problem with people who voted for Trump. I feel, and have always felt, that he's an odious scumbag of the highest order, and not fit to run for office, but I actually do understand why people vote for him, some of whom might even agree with my assessment of him.
If you don't think he's a total scumbag, OK, we can agree to disagree, but please don't try and pretend he's a wonderful person. I can't fucking abide the worship of any politician, and there's too much of it. It was nauseating with Obama (who I would have voted for), and even more hideous with Trump, for me at least.
As far as complaining about crowing about it, give me a fucking break. The amount of bullshit peddled by both sides during every election is highly aggravating. There was plenty of crowing about the dawn of a new age in 2016.

I wasn't the one chanting 'Traitor', and 'Where the fuck are they? yesterday in Washington.
I haven't told anybody here at TNCR to go fuck themselves, or attacked them for being stupid, or evil.
And yet I'm the hater.
It strikes me that I'm not the only person here who needs to take a long, hard look in the fucking mirror.
Aimed at me, I know. My responses like that are not motivated by hate, but by frustration. I get tired of never having my opinions taken seriously, I get tired of the kind of debate thats like herding cats, where no matter how well you nail down a point, the other person shifts to another issue or something, never once saying "you've got a point, I'll think about it". And I get tired of being personally attacked by the same little group of losers, like AndyD for instance - a guy who first attacked me straight out of the blue years ago and has done nothing else since.
And yes, I get tired of the comments like "Trump's massive failures". Trump was one of if not the most successful presidents in history. I don't really care how anyone feels about him personally, but at least have the decency to give the man credit where it's due.
Maybe it's time for me to just move on. There doesn't seem to be room for anyone not willing to join the never ending TDS circle jerk.

Not just you, no, but you've said some pretty nasty stuff.
We all say things we probably shouldn't, but then I get accused of being gleeful about somebody dying, and I'm supposed to just grin and bear it. Fuck that. Nothing I have ever said would make this a justifiable charge.

Now wait a minute. I've been clear about Trump's culpability on this and have even promoted the idea that Trump could and should face charges over this. I also feel there are other causes and this does go beyond Trump. If you want to call it blaming liberals, then go ahead and do so, but yesterday WAS a tipping point that resulted from decades of escalating cultural warfare. This started during the Bush administration, well before people took Trump seriously.

Fuck that.
Maybe what you said, does rise to that standard. Or maybe it's something somebody else said. At this point in time, I simply don't care. Simply. Do. Not. Care.
Maybe a few people need a Come To Jesus moment. Maybe some folks need to do a bit of introspection and decide whether the pithy jibe or the rhetorical riposte was worth it. Maybe this is what people get, when the throttle is always open.
Maybe some people have pushed the TDS button too hard, too many times and often in error. No Trump supporter on this board has ever defended him in every situation, especially his demeanor or behavior. But that doesn't matter when keeping score, does it?
I don't like what I see in the bottom of the abyss. I hope other people don't, either.

I think you have been, too. None of this was directed at you.
I also feel there are other causes and this does go beyond Trump.
And beyond white people, too, I agree. There's a plurality of blame we have to contend with if we have any hope of fixing these problems.

Tides can be reversed. Presidents can decide not to be instigators. Political groups can try to keep the fringe of their own party in check. Just because the left has been antagonistic doesn't mean that the rest was a foregone conclusion.

The worst part? These guys didn’t even get a TV or pair of Nike’s out of this...

They got some nice stationery and other tchotchkes, though. And they could have had an assload of very nice A/V equipment if they didn't, y'know, smash it up.

Do you think some of them were as shocked as anybody that they made it through?

That's right! I'd forgotten about that.
Nice to see he gets around.
Don't these people have, you know, jobs?
