Okay so Trump has a secret military coup being planned I suppose. LOL.
So we know now that a coup is not what the letter addresses but something else and I very seriously doubt it benefits democrats.

What does it address?

Donald Rumsfeld was Defense Secretary for the first time when you and I were in grade school, and again 2 decades later. Cheney was WH Chief of staff in the 70s, was a member of the house armed services committee for over a decade before becoming Sec Def himself, and then 8 years as a very hands on VP. These guys have pretty deep ties in the military establishment.
The fact that they think this is necessary is per se high in information content.

It’s the beginning of internecine war for the soul of the party and its levering the prevailing rhetoric to get attention. Every signatory would laugh if you asked them if they thought a coup was coming. Cheap scotch everywhere actually.

People make fun of that, and hey I like making fun of Rummy as much as the next guy, but there's nothing stupid about that quote. (We talked about that very procession quite a bit in my Wing Chun classes.) He was talking about the Dunning-Kruger effect before it had a name.
