The New York one, when the one car came to a stop to let the cable car pass, he stuck out his arm when he was stopping, almost like a bicycle. I guess they did not have brake lights on the original cars there.

Decades ago, when I went to driving school, I was taught hand/arm signals for turns etc.

I love this.
Recently I've been watching Apocalypse on Amazon prime - a lot of colourised WW1 footage. Some is better quality than others, however the documentary is well worth a look.

Smoothed out, and colorized, it looks like yesterday, and makes it so real. It's like the WWI movie that Peter Jackson made. The immediacy makes it relatable, and not history book stuff.

Well said. What struck me, such as in the Paris video, was how “normal” the fountains looked. As if it was a congested tourist spot we see today...except 100+ years ago. Aside from the horse-based society and dated clothing, it really looks very relatable. Fun/trippy to watch!
