    So here’s the company’s statement:

Pfizer is one of various vaccine manufacturers participating in Operation Warp Speed as a supplier of a potential COVID-19 vaccine," Castillo said in an email. "While Pfizer did reach an advanced purchase agreement with the U.S. government, the company did not accept (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) funding for the research and development process. All the investment for R&D was made by Pfizer at risk. Dr. Jansen was emphasizing that last point."

So yeah, “participating” in that the purchase of the doses, assuming it occurs, will come from that money.

But Pfizer is correct that they received no money. They got a PO. With conditions that haven’t been met yet.

    Only non-witches get due process.

So that means it's ok to inform Biden before POTUS?

Seems disrespectful even for a lame duck, but not particularly consequential.

I'd like to know his motivations. Might be something as simple as Biden could be trusted not to announce the news before the company did.

No, many companies took money upfront for development.

Moderna is pre-revenue, they took lots of money upfront. I know Janssen (J&J) did, though obviously they have plenty of revenue. I don't feel like looking the other ones up.

Don’t know if or when Pfizer called the Biden campaign to inform them of its vaccine news. Even if Pfizer did, it’s their own information to share with whomever and whenever it sees fit. So, yeah, even if Pfizer did call the Biden campaign first, it is perfectly alright. Heck, it is still perfectly alright even if Pfizer also called Kanye first.

                      I suppose.

Now, answer me this: What was the motivation for Pfizer putting the President of the United States not on the list of whom to notify? Azar said he "read it in the papers."

This was not an accident. This was a deliberate choice.

It’s not right - the office of POTUS should be notified first.

But Trump personally doesn’t deserve it.

I don’t think you were very outraged when Trump pulled stuff like this though.

There, right there, is the problem with Trump.

People ignore the fact that he's the President of The United States, and focus on the fact that he's occasionally impolite.

I've said, many times, that Trump is a loathsome boor. But, he IS The President. and by virtue of that fact, he, more than anyone know what the status is of the crisis, the pandemic, that is ravaging our nation. He should be notified first, and not through a media report, particularly when his political opponent was notified at least 12 hours earlier.

His behavior regarding senior government officials through the media and Twitter is irrelevant. You're conflating personality with policy.

It’s not right - the office of POTUS should be notified first.
But Trump personally doesn’t deserve it.
Remember, this is the guy that fires senior government officials through the media and Twitter.

                                      Uh, no. It's not.

It's not illegal, but it's damn sure not all right.

Private companies have to notify the federal government first on whatever they do?

Within legal bounds, it is perfectly alright for private enterprises to choose with whom and when they share their proprietary information.
