Round one of expectation setting worked wonderfully. Maybe this is round two.

we'll know for sure that this is all part of the master plan, after Biden knocks it out of the park in the debates.

I don’t think you will know that.
Lowering expectations is a typical campaign strategy whether one knocks of out of the park or just does ok.

No debates is beyond outrageous. A normal progressive would cancel this person and they would be off twitter and Facebook. The fact that this is okay is just proof of the blatant hypocrisy of being principled.
Naked aggression is fine with me, just be honest.

Anything is positive when you start with senility as your baseline.

I'm pretty sure that Ms. Pelosi's expectations will exactly match her outcome.

What is the benefit for Vice President Biden to have a debate? I think it is like Jon said - lower the expectations. LOL
I still do believe that the best campaigner for Vice President Biden is President Trump. LOL Maybe "silence is truly golden"

I think that Vice President Biden will debate, but IF he did not, I really dont think it would change a lot of peoples minds or change the "independents" vote.
I just dont see a debate being the priority item for an undecided voter.
Yes, the Republics would scream and yell, just like the Democrats did when President Trump did not release his taxes.
Stuff like debates and tax release are not required and are somewhat recent.

Independents support for Trump shot up 10 points to 52% just from his acceptance speech. If Biden doesn't debate it won't just be independents moving to Trump, it will be a huge number of democrats as well.

You cannot be serious. Refusing to debate would absolutely kill him. It wouold be a tacit admission that he is incompetent to perform publicly.
Debates have been part of presidential elections for pretty much our whole lifetimes.
