Remember when he broke all presidential norms with that tan suit?

Your heroic '90s era pushback against homophobia is quaint. But if a prominent public figure and ex leader of the free world misrepresents himself, it's of note.

      Of the what world?

I always enclose that phrase in scare quotes in my head, but YMMV.

Indeed, in my mind it’s measured in kilomitres.

A low point in the history of America's gravitas.

I remember when conservatives used to criticise Obama's narcissism. Thank God that kind of thing's being stamped out.

@Doctor-Phibes Narcissism is probably a career tailwind in politics. In other words, voters like it. Except voters for the other tribe, of course.

Yeah, I'll take naked sweaty men (especially if they're ripped) over this every day of the week.

How do you know those men aren’t sweaty? They’re certainly half naked.

But the only boobies on the White House lawn should be mine.

And no, you're not seeing them, despite your wishes.

A piece by Kevin Williamson (who made his name writing for National Review and now is with The Dispatch) occasionally writes about his lower class rural (he would say white thrash) upbringing. I think he made his first appearance at TNCR with a famous piece (at the time) that criticized Vance’s book from the right, back when Vance’s book was being praised by the establishment left.

Anyway this is nominally a critique of UFC on the White House lawn but more than anything a slice of life of Williamson as an eight year old in a dysfunctional home. Worth reading for that alone.

Stupid piece, but par for the course for this version of Kevin Williamson. I'd say AndreaB's whataboutism response is about perfect. I'll take the "cultural degradation" of a professional sporting event being hosted at the white house, over a trans pride parade. And that would be a strong majority opinion across America.

I'm sure Kevin has white trash bona fides. But a sanctioned professional sporting event that happens to be combat-oriented is not an analogy for his shithole upbringing.
