IN THE STRAIT of Hormuz, Iran has developed an asymmetrical naval strategy that is crippling the passage of container ships. This “hemostat” uses guerrilla tactics, after Iran's “traditional” fleet was almost entirely destroyed by US and Israeli attacks. No longer able to rely on specialized military ships, Tehran is using an unconventional force made up of dozens of small military vessels armed with missiles, machine guns, and drones. Quick and nimble, this “mosquito fleet” is capable of assaulting ships carrying tons of cargo.

In mid-April, US president Donald Trump had reassured the public in a post on Truth Social that Iran's hemostat fleet did not pose a major problem for the US and Israel. “The Iranian Navy lies at the bottom of the sea, completely annihilated: 158 ships,” Trump wrote. “What we didn't hit are their small numbers of what they call ‘fast attack boats’ because we didn't consider them a big threat.” Less than 10 days later, on April 22, an Iranian attack conducted with the small vessels led to the seizure of two large container ships leaving the Strait of Hormuz, changing the course of the war.

    and

“The effectiveness of Iran's fleet of small boats comes from their numbers and their use in swarms, which makes them difficult to counter,” Eisenstadt adds. “Iran has over a thousand of these small boats armed with rockets, machine guns, anti-ship missiles, and mines.” In this way, Tehran can pose a serious naval threat even though much of its military fleet has been destroyed.

“As Iran showed in March, it can close the straits by launching only a few dozen drones against oil tankers and cargo ships in the Persian Gulf,

We should be able to identify mosquito boats with drones and smash them.

If true, I wonder who he will blame? The Kurds? Nato? Zelenskyi? Obama?

I suspect we could keep some planes surveilling the area in play. An A10 should handle little boats nicely.

They’re all armed though. There might be too many for an A10 to kill before it is killed. (Just speculating)

I have no particular issue with more attacks, I’d just like to know what the specific goal is that would support.

                          Same song, different day.

United States President Donald Trump has announced he will postpone a “scheduled attack” against Iran at the request of regional leaders in the Middle East.

The reversal, he said, came in light of the fact that “serious negotiations are now taking place”.

“A Deal will be made, which will be very acceptable to the United States of America, as well as all Countries in the Middle East, and beyond,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

It is unclear what, if any, breakthrough has been made in the stalled negotiations to end the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran.

@taiwan_girl Milan area. Family visit. (This time Mrs Bach's family) Saturday we drive up to the mountains above Como for some scenery and a mountain meal. Return to the holy land on Monday evening.

My father was also a Milanese. My whole father’s side are all wops. ( my mother was born in the USA already) They ran away from Poland back in WW I times (the Great War) and he was born in Turin although grew up in Milan. Long story short my father left Italy to go to pre nazi germany to Frankfurt to study but come the 1933 racial laws meant no Jews in university so he returned to Italy and then was smart enough to leave Italy when the racial laws there also took effect and ended up in London.

Anyway because my father was forced to leave nazi germany in 1933, my kids (his grandchildren) are all legally eligible for German passports. So my kids are all soon to be tri nationals. Israel American and German citizens. (I could also but I never bothered to)

Just some biographical tidbits which explains why we visit Italy often. I have lots of Italian cousins and relatives.

And can understand some Italian although I can’t speak a word.

And how all this ended up in the Iran nuclear thread is a mystery.

That lower left highlighted in red pizza icon. Not sure what that's supposed to be, there isn't a pizza place there last I've seen, but the area does change quickly. The pizza icon in the top of it is a Pizzato though.

I only looked up that lower icon as I used to order (completely sober btw) pizzas from a place near there in the late 2000's after playing FIFA soccer at 1am.
