We’re about to enter into a golden age of computer games. Everybody with a good idea will be able to build a game around it, no artists or programmers required. I wonder wha big game studios will bring to the table other than interference from the marketing department.

    Education is extremely important.

Jack Dorsey cuts 40% of workforce, explicitly due to AI replacing humans:

Stock for the company up 20% on the news.

And Grok's summary of Dorsey's letter:

We're slashing the company from 10k to under 6k people because AI plus tiny teams now let us do the same work with way fewer bodies, and the CEO would rather gut half the staff in one brutal move than bleed out slowly over years.

      Education is extremely important.

I could do no better than that summary.

        Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.

Grok was asked for a one sentence summary, which is a neat trick.

Solution: Rename the "Computer Science" major to "Art of Computing" and make it a Bachelor of Arts degree, basically treating it like liberal arts.

Anyone here with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Computer Science? Raise your hands!

Fun! I guess I'm glad my position is non-cancellable, unless the whole country ceases to exist.

I honestly do feel bad for those caught graduating at the wrong time. I work in IT but pivoted a few years ago to cybersecurity and so far we are finding ways to use AI to make our job better but I’d imagine eventually we’ll be augmented (aka replaced) by agentic robots who can find/stop security threats 24/7 and don’t need sleep.

I think my son is in a really bad age group for this. He’s needing to choose a college major knowing that AI is about to change everything but only able to speculate as to how. But by the time he graduates college those changes will be in full swing.

Is he leaning one way or another? If I was his age I’d lean toward something entrepreneurial. Trades maybe. Bright kid, he’ll do well but white collar is dicey.

The changes we are seeing in our lifetime are dizzying.
