Dry February…
-
A little over 4 weeks ago I found out my blood sugar was getting a little high and I was bordering on pre-diabetic, so I decided to A) Lose 35 lbs to get back to where I should be at to help my insulin sensitivity B) Develop better long term eating and hydration habits for the long term and not to ping pong right back… 3) Give my liver a vacation and a more relaxed workload going forward…
So 4 weeks ago I cut off the beer and whiskey, and switched to a semi-keto diet plan. All that I’ve had to drink over that time is water, coffee, 2 unsweetened iced teas, and 3 cans of this stevia flavored soda with no coloring, all clear… So far I’ve lost 15 pounds, and am generally feeling better. The biggest improvement that I’ve noticed is that I sleep much better. And maybe a little less stress?
Anyway, I likely have another 6-8 weeks to go, since I will probably want to go a little below my target as I transition from a weight loss mode to a maintenance mode…At any rate, off to a good start…

Thanks! The Stevia soda is odd. It tastes like Diet Coke, not my favorite, but okay for something carbonated and a small bit of caffeine… But the lack of coloring drives home how other senses affect taste. If I pour it in a glass, it tastes odd and a little watered down. Drinking it from a can? It tastes like Diet Coke… I swear it’s the visual look changing expectations, which affect the taste… Ever try a sip of root beer when you thought it was cola? Very different flavor…

The athletic NA beers are nice.
I’ve been alcohol free for a while now. 7 months maybe? Due to being on an antibiotic

I’ll give them a try, but the good ones still have high carb count, so until the weight goes down…
