Luckily I've avoided EVs for every rental I've done so far. Wouldn't know shit about fuck for how to use them or charge them or whatever.

Turns out there’s a slow charger at my hotel. It’ll be full by the time I leave at 5am.

Fucking hell. I get back the car and it had only charged from 23% to 46% in 41 minutes.

That’ll tie me over until I leave tomorrow morning, but I’ll still pay an exorbitant fee upon return.

That's doesn't seem right. I think those "superchargers" are much quicker than that. #shrug.

Literally never again will I accept one of these.

My charging cost was reasonable. But it finished charging around 10 and charged me an ‘idle fee’ which was more on an hourly basis than the charging fee.

I doubt I would have paid $50 had I returned it half full.

I wouldn't count on the slow charger to fill it overnight. My friend has a plug-in in his garage and it only charges like 40 miles a night. Not ready for prime time.

Yep. It stopped charging at 75%. It was 73% by the time I got to Avis.

I may well get hit with their exorbitant refill fee anyway.

All for a car I specifically didn’t request.

I think EVs explain the rise of the godawful Buc-ee's. It takes half an hour to get out of there.

Dont hate me but I agree with this. LOL. On public charging stations, it is unfair to take up a spot that you no longer need. Same as if someone filled their car with gas, and then went off to a restaurant, leaving their car in front of the petrol pump.

I think it makes sense in general but should it really be more per unit of time than the charge itself? Also it should vary by time of day. No one was coming to charge from 10pm-4am.

Isn't that what they did? Charge you USD$30 for 7 hours of idle? About USD$4.28/hour.

Sorry you have have a bad experience with EV. When I have had one, I have had a pretty good experience.
