Would be epic if he'd be cremated and somebody would give a "I love the smell of cremation in the morning" speech.

An actor’s actor and one of my very favorites.

          He was great.

          Education is extremely important.

            Big loss.

My first memory of him was in The Apostle, great cast too (first time I saw Walton Goggins and Billy Bob Thornton, too). I'll post some great clips of that in a second. He was a local Virginia guy too, I think with farm land and rescuing dogs.

For acting, I always enjoyed his ability to have the right inflection (and the right pause) while giving his lines.

Always wanted to watch Lonesome Dove (TV series) one day...

This famous clip I remember studying in film class. There are a bunch of things to notice (including a young Martin Sheen at the end) but the delivery of his lines at the end (and NOT flinching when a mortar almost hits him) are classic.

Here is The Apostle. Love this movie, haven't watched it in a while.

And I believe it is @mik or @lufins-dad who are big fans of the Secondhand Lions speech(es) he gives.

Very much so. He was arguably my favorite actor. You never saw Duvall, just the character.
