I had to admit I was not familiar with the French anthem, so I gave it a listen. I like it!

Also fun to know that Key stole a good drinking song for ours. I was referring to God save The King for Our Country Tis Of Thee.

Casablanca (film with Bogart) has a version that shows the effect of the French anthem.

Why does the superbowl flyover vary?

1991 with Whitney I think was missing man. This year 7 planes and then another 1?

I like Berlioz’s version for voice, chorus and full orchestra. Liszt also made an inspiring and crowd thumper of a piano transcription of it as well - there’s a recording out there with a young Cyprien Katsaris playing it.

        Elbows up!

I think they changed it at the last minute this year as some of the F22's were needed elsewhere.

Where was used to live we were right underneath the flightpath for when they prepared the flyover for certain games at Gillette. The planes used to vary - my favourite was 3 tankbusters flying quite low right over our house, and one year we had a B2 bomber. The dog was not as big a fan.

          I was only joking

            A B2 must be deafening.

I used to work on an industrial estate in Essex. Every now and then a big Chinook would slowly rumble over and we'd all go watch(first floor modern offices with loads of south facing glass).
Probably from Lakenheath. Also got the odd jet, whoosh and its gone.

Then one day there was a different rumble, grew to a thunderous noise.
            Avro Lancaster!
That sound the old props make, directly overhead then suddenly in sight over the windows and very low on its way to a London display.
I thought it was crashing, it was maybe only 200ft up.
Why would it fly so low?

I saw a B2 do maneuvers at the Cleveland Air Show. It was utterly silent, and when it turned itself on edge it disappeared. Spooky - that thing is a spaceship.

I'll remove this video tomorrow but here is a flyover in 2020 when I was living in Virginia. You can actually see my then-2 year old (now 7). Some dude gets a little patriotic at the end "USA!!" lol, it wasn't me.

This is the top of the condo where I lived. We'd see military aircraft all the time, often Ospreys and some jets, but nothing like this of course. At the end you can see our view of DC from the roof where we'd watch fireworks.

                I believe the aircraft are:

                • B-29s
                • B-17 and P-51s
                • Chinnooks
                • B-52 Stratofortress (high pitch sound)
                • Ospreys
                • B-1
                • A-10 warthogs
                • KC-135 Stratotanker
                • B-2
                • F-22s
                • Blue Angels and Thunderbirds
                • Drunk guy
