It's never seemed to me that there's any there there regarding smoking guns and Trump. In fact the evidence that Trump pushed back against Epstein, at the time, is clear. The only arguments I've ever heard for why Biden's DOJ failed to act against Trump, in the presence of evidence, have been universally stupid. No offense to anybody here who may account for my exposure to such arguments, which may have been too stupid to even break water in mainstream TDS circles.

Shapiro here has a reasonable take IMO.

There's a political event horizon some people cross where they've so normalized government corruption in their mind they can't believe that not all governments have been so corrupt and would view suggestions otherwise as 'stupid'.

Like it or not the evidence points to Garland running a very tight ship, if anything he overcompensated after the norm-breaking of the first Trump administration.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

The full context of that statement was relating to Stormy Daniels, an adult porn star that everyone is aware Trump slept with and paid off to keep quiet.

Also Trump: I’ve ordered Bondi to investigate every democrat mentioned in the emails.

                    https://www.axios.com/2025/11/17/trump-house-republicans-release-the-epstein-files-vote

Trump said Sunday evening House Republicans "should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it's time to move on from this Democrat Hoax."

Ok so they’ve been working on them.

Honestly the biggest mystery to me of the past 6 months is why they didn’t just edit them and release what they wanted. It’s not like they have any respect for the law.

It some sense it seems too late to do it after Trump’s obvious displays of concern for what’s in them but maga is just motivated/stupid enough to not think that through.

Although now that I think about it the ‘everybody vote for it’ message could just be to prevent the embarrassment of him looking like he’s not in control.

In fact for him to say ‘no republicans vote for this’ and then 100+ do is probably worse for his self image than anything in those files.

Trump personally invents his own reality by speaking out loud what he wishes to be true (as you do to a less effective extent), but his entire administration does not historically invent their reality by creating fraudulent evidence and paper trails.

                              @Horace

You are probably correct. The reality of the current administration is that it is too preoccupied with damage control measures such as putting out Trump’s fires rather than evidence tampering or concocting false narratives and paper trails. Besides, if there is anything that would cast Trump in a bad light in the alleged Epstein files, it would involve ill obtained money from dubious third parties rather than the corruption of underage escorts; topic of little to no interest or consequence to Trump’s base and sufficiently arcane that any fault or blame can rest solely with the dead and buried, Epstein

My mother said that to me too when I was a wee lad and wanted to be 12 for some reason.

I think I was under the ultimately false impression that I would get a moped at 12.

I think we said many months ago even if files were released, there's no way to trust them at this point. It's like asking robbers to open the bank door so you can take fingerprints and they keep saying "sure, just one more minute!"

BTW the FBI site in Winchester is not a secret. It's called the Central Records Complex (CRC). I had a buddy (she was a hot programmer akshully) who worked there a year or two ago.
