    But that’s sort of irrelevant.

I think what we’re seeing here is that most industries aren’t making expansion plans in the face of economic uncertainty. That economic uncertainty, perhaps uniquely in our economic history, has a single author who just fired the head of his labor statistics department.

I wonder if he was actually fired for pointing out that a 1500% decrease in expense is something that only a moron would talk about.

    I was only joking

Maybe Trump was just confused and mistook an estimated savings range of 1% to 5% with a net reduction of 1500%.

That or Trump just rounded up to 1500% for the sake of simplicity.

      Elbows up!

          Japan's trade deal:

          https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/08/08/us-japan-trade-deal-dispute/

With no provisions committed to a formal document, the fact sheets that both governments released have conflicting information.

I assume ‘70%’ refers to the portion of the tariff that will hit consumers come fall.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yeah I'd imagine not many companies will just "eat" the import tax without passing it onto the price

The economy is going to be stuck in 3rd gear until these guys can decide whether to shit or get off the pot.

Trump calls for Goldman Sachs to replace the economist responsible for the tariff report.

I wonder how bad the facts culture is within the White House... I expect if anyone tells Trump real data it's like a recurring "Hitler finds out" scene playing over and over.
