You know, Trump may pop off and say things like this on an irregular basis. It's one of the maddening aspects of Donald Trump. What the TDS crowd usually fails to note, is that most often there is an actual serious issue underlying Trump's pique.

In this case, it's not just the MAGA attire, it's the simple fact that Goodyear has become political and woke concerning their employees, pushing the politics and rights of one group of employees ahead of the others.

Many won't see this. They'll just take umbrage against the tweet and never think about the underlying issue. Apparently, a symptom of TDS is mental constipation. Although, maybe it's the other way around.

I don't expect to see in my lifetime a more well defined group-think imbecility than our current view of "all lives matter" or "blue lives matter" as evil notions. But you can count on TDS folk to consider both of those ideas as ambiguous statements at best, not to be trusted.

I agree with that, but there would be much better ways to draw attention to the problematic aspects of "woke" company policies than Trump's clumsy and impulsive tweets.

The real problem is that Trump is just as much a proponent of tribalism as those who push those "woke" company policies. He isn't opposed to those policies out of concern for some greater good. He is opposed to it because these are policies directed against his tribe and for the "enemy" tribe.

In general, make it blatantly obvious that the issue is not "they attacked me, so I attack them" but rather a matter of defending the values upon which the US is built.

Instead he has chosen to make it look as yet another case of acting like the bully at school. How utterly embarrasing to trash-talk about the quality of Goodyear tires. They haven't suddenly become better or worse because of this. We all know that if Goodyear had done something "for him", he'd advertise those same tires as the best tires ever. Trump's world consists of people who support and (more importantly) praise him, and those who do not. There are no principles or values or political philosophies.

Fair enough, but I think the point you are missing is that Trump's behavior is harmful in other regards completely separate from the "woke companies" issue, and there is no indication that Biden, say, would do a similar kind of damage. I'm talking about political culture itself, of course: the qualities we associate with political leadership in a constitutional democracy, as opposed to the political leadership of a tribalistic despot.
