So now they do exist. Schrödinger’s Epstein files.
I know all politicians stretch the truth, or spin, but man what a relief it would be to get back to the pre-Trump days of political spin where it was like 99% truth and cherry-picked facts that were at least... facts. This moron says whatever self-convinced reality is in his head at the time of saying it.

Word on the street is that Bongino is upset with Bondi because of her posturing that there were so many juicy files that she would be releasing. That put Bongino and the FBI in the awkward position of looking like they’re covering something up, now that the inevitable choice to shut up has been made, lacking the actual files to put up.

Just like yesterday he maintained he had Putin pegged all along. More like Putin had him pegged as a foolish chump from day one and has continued to play him as one to the present. I don’t anticipate that to change.

Forgive me if I'm being rather simplistic and superficial, but I'm left with the distinct impression that Trump's cabinet are a bunch of clueless fucking morons.

How is all of this not just a heated discussion among 12 year old girls?
Give him a little credit - I'm sure they were at least 15.

Bondi was probably hoping there was more of a there there, and she was playing into the reality TV administration. Got over her skis. Yes the reality TV stuff is all dumb.

If we didn't want a reality TV President, we probably shouldn't have voted for a reality TV personality.

This is smart. I know it is fracturing his base to some extent (not sure how much), but if you take it for granted that there is no there there with the Epstein Files, it's smart to goad his enemies into going full conspiracy theorist and making fools of themselves.
-
I didn’t think there were any dramatic revelations here before all this. But now Trump has been saying that all the Epstein files are written by his political opponents.
That part is weird - why make that point?
He’s not saying there’s no there there. He’s not saying we actually have no proof of Epstein doing anything bad.
He’s saying that the files have political slander in them.
I’m not sure what part is smart - that he’ll eventual reveal that there’s no evidence of wrongdoing against Epstein?

He's herding his enemies into the side of the argument he is in a position to know is wrong, while his enemies are not in that position to know. The stuff about Comey creating hoax files is probably just reflexive rhetoric that he thinks will play to his base.
I am a fan of any explanation for strange events that has human incompetence at its core, but I can't go far enough to believe that the Biden administration overlooked evidence of Trump being a pedophile. The other explanations for Biden's handlers not dunking on Trump, like mutually assured destruction or shadowy deep deep state figures, are pure wish-casted conspiracies with no reasonable chance of being true, and kept under wraps. So, I'm left with the notion that there is nothing juicy in those files that could damage Trump.

Time will tell.
No reason to suspect that. We are at a place now that nobody will trust any documents anyway. The most compelling piece of evidence that Trump has no personal reason to cover up the files, will remain that Biden did not use those files against him.
Our court system continues to work adequately though, and Epstein was in fact convicted of actual crimes, and we can presume that the jury had evidence to base that conviction on. The fact that Epstein was fairly convicted does not indicate that there must be a list which incriminates everybody who had sex with the girls he trafficked.
