Seems like these aren’t mandated but car makers have some sort of EPA incentive to install them. Sounds like he’s taking away the incentive.

Yeah, I don't know how they ever got past safety regulations. Pulling up to an intersection, where you may have to make a quick go/no go decision, and the fukkin engine shuts off just as you're about hit the gas. The "feature" is easy enough to turn off, but has to be done each and every time you start the car. meh

Our van has it. I often disable it after the first time it happens. It actually stars quickly, somewhat impressive, but still... annoying.

I’ve always been curious as to the costs in terms of wear and tear on the starter. I’ve also never trusted the estimates on total
gas savings. I believe ignition uses the same amount of fuel as 2-3 seconds of idling.
