I was listening to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me Saturday on NPR. They were interviewing some guy from the show Paradise, in which the president is killed. The host then said "Don't get excited, it's not THAT president" and the whole place erupted in tittering glee. Made me sick.

Remind them who the VP is and see if they still feel that way.

I would be surprised if they're as afraid of Vance as they are of Trump.

I meant it then and still feel that way. I don’t forgive any foreign leader who threatens to annex my country.

I do however agree with Jon’s statement regarding Vance. He is every bit, if not more repugnant than the old bastard presently in the occupying Oval Office.

But there's no way he would have said most of the stupid things Trump has said that make you angry. "Canada will be the 51st state" might have been parroted by Vance (I don't know this to be true, and I doubt it), but he would never have thought to say it. Vance's rhetoric would be far less inflammatory, and I doubt his policies would be as dumb either. He's bound to support the boss currently, but I'd be way more comfortable with Vance than I am with Trump.

Me too. I suppose there's the risk that Vance would be better at implementing crazy Trump ideas since Vance is more articulate, but I'd imagine without Trump pressure Vance would be a much more stable and predictable leader, even if he is an earnest paleocon.

Vance being more capable of implementing Trump ideas. He may be more articulate, but I don’t think he has the cojones to pull off what Trump does.

Plus, I don’t think Vance lasts beyond the midterms. Vance is a bit too much of a true believer.

Vance has zero charisma. He's annoying to look at.

I definitely see your point there. People have gone to war for lesser things. In the US we kind of look at annexing Canada as kind of just Trump being Trump but I can see where those being annexed might take it very seriously. And rightly so.

I sort of believe that all of these guys are just putting in the 9 to 5. They are doing what they are paid to do, for the fame, money and power. I don't know really what Vance is like, but I can tell you that guy that's the Secretary of State isn't the Marco Rubio that's been hanging around Florida politics for that last 20 years.

Vance is a bit too much of a true believer.

Yes, he is. The guy on the news isn’t, but the guy working with the staff at State and the diplomats? Absolutely is. And that’s coming from 2 moderate democrats Diplomats. They say they are grateful as hell for him.

Me too. I suppose there's the risk that Vance would be better at implementing crazy Trump ideas since Vance is more articulate, but I'd imagine without Trump pressure Vance would be a much more stable and predictable leader, even if he is an earnest paleocon.

                                      Not a chance.

Could you elaborate? What doesn't have a chance?

Vance being more capable of implementing Trump ideas. He may be more articulate, but I don’t think he has the cojones to pull off what Trump does.

I don't think he would try. I think the tariffs go away if Trump goes away, at the latest by the next administration.

Plus, I don’t think Vance lasts beyond the midterms. Vance is a bit too much of a true believer.

                                      True believer in what?

                                      1. Vance is a little too close to that wing of America First (and only) for my taste. Many of his closest political companions are a bit of Autarkatic for my taste.

                                      2. He is very much into protectionism and big government. Reagan, this guy ain’t.
