Alternative title: Who TF goes to Omaha on a Thursday morning?
Heading to Omaha for a foundation event Friday and Saturday. Omaha is right on the border with Iowa so I’m going to pop over there for lunch today.
I’ve never been to either state.
Why the alternative title? The flight is oversold and they’re looking for volunteers to give up their seats. I’m heading out today because tomorrow’s Flight was packed when I booked and there were only middle seats left.

FYI it’s a delta flight leaving at 8:44 so if it gets Hegsethed or Duffied please notify my next of kin and in lieu of flowers please donate to Buttigieg 2028.

I flew Jet Blue out of Pittsburgh last week, and as we took off the pilot said 'One of the bathrooms and some of the video screens aren't working, so please be patient with us. This is an old plane that's due to be decommissioned in about a month'.

Well good luck in Iowa. Hopefully you don’t get stranded and have to get Musked.

I can make a dinner recommendation not too far from downtown. The Bolognese Bianco is great.
Omaha is actually an interesting town. I expected it to be essentially flat, but there's hardly a flat spot outside downtown. It's regularly rolling due to erosion. If you drive east or west it's rather a roller coaster - up, down, up, down...
It also has the best wine shop ever. His cards actually say, "Best fucking wine shop". Or they used to.

As long as you have at least one male pilot, you should be okay...

Looks good. I’ll either go there tonight or Saturday night. Probably Saturday.

When you mentioned two new states, I figured you meant Ontario and Quebec…

8 years ago I actually was a Lyft Driver. I did it to get past the dynamic tolling on 66 going into DC, since there’s no toll for HOV. So when I would need to go into DC myself, I would turn on the app and have a hit going into the city within 3 minutes. Not only did I avoid the toll, but I paid for the gas I would have used anyway…
At any rate, it always shocked people when I picked them up. Many would even then assume that I was a European transplant. “Where are you from?”
“Sterling”
“No, I mean where were you born?” “Pittsburgh”
“When did you come to the US?”
“Pennsylvania is still in the US, last I checked…”Curious if @Aqua-Letifer ran into that.
