Mr. Clemency

Random thought. What if someone robbed a bank in the area right around the time of the riots. Maybe they could come up with some creative excuse as to how it was related to the riots and then claim the pardon applied to them.

Innocent until proven guilty.
Have all the charged been tried?
Not sure, I could google the stats, but I know a bunch have been tried and convicted and are (or were) in jail.
Including someone (Dempsey) who stomped on police officers' heads, struck officers with a metal pole, attacked with broken pieces of glass, sprayed pepper spray into a cop's eyes after another mobster pulled the cop's gas mask off. He plead guilty to all of this btw. Including someone who orchestrated a plot to stop the peaceful transfer of power (Tarrio). Including someone who used a riot shield to break through a window to allow the mob in. Including someone who stole (robbery? larceny?) items from senator offices.
I guess google says there have been over 900 convictions (out of 1400 charged).
As mentioned above, 15 get their sentences commuted, the other 885 or however many get full pardons for their convicted crimes. Cool.

false equivalence is part and parcel with Repbulicans. You can do better than that George.

better yet, I believe I now have the full right to visit the Rotunda and smear my feces all over its walls as well as erect a hangman's noose outside with my megaphone shouting "hang JD Vance"
This country is getting greater every day. I love America!

His attempts to rewrite history to exonerate himself will fail miserably. Ostrich's arise and smell the tyrannical attempts to do the impossible. I got my popcorn. Got my butter. Got my 90 inch TV and sound system and theater seats and don't plan to miss a single scene. This will be better than Lord of the Rings!

I hope you all have good chiropracters and are covered insurance wise. That water you guys have to carry gets heavier each day.

If not, then that is another travesty of justice. So many holes in the system to count The Beatles get it, probably as many as the Albert Hall.

At three-in-a-row, I start to question myself. Five?
That's mental illness territory.

If you say so oh sage one. More importantly, there are proven ways to get all that sand out of your eyes and ears after having them buried in it for so long. I can provide links. And I have to ask, curious creature that I am, I thought for sure you would have added your input to my queries on my upcoming piano hunt. I remember the topic of pianos was something you had much interest in with all kinds of good advice. Particularly the Baldwin question. I remember your fondness for them in the days of yore.

We're basically arguing about which of the Presidents is less corrupt.
I have to say it's not particularly inspiring.

Biden had been a typical Washington pol up to a point, using his influence and knowledge to make money, but I'm not sure he was super corrupt. Then, somewhere around 2014, the Biden Crime Family went into the " make it rain" mode and threw a lot of caution to the winds.
Trump? I don't find Trump inherently corrupt. I feel like one could certainly get screwed in a business deal with Trump or that he would use money and lawyers to steamroll people and institutions to get what he wants, but I wouldn't label that as corrupt.

Exactly. "Your criminals are worse than my criminals."

I don't care for the Biden blanket pardons. Pardons are usually issued for individual (and usually adjudicated) acts.
-
@89th said in Mr. Clemency:
I mean, Biden only did the last minute pardons because of Trump's threats. That part isn't even debatable.
Yep. The anomaly is a presidential candidate who talked about prosecuting his political enemies at every campaign whistle stop, who then chooses a sycophant who as AG who went as far as publishing a book with a list of 60 ‘enemies of the state’.

What I find odd is how many people apparently can't see how fucked up both sides are.
