Luke is in London, he’s in a Cigar shop right now with a friend, then going to a pub to meet his girlfriend/fiancee.

Karla, Finley, and I are looking forward to some of Karla’s chili (with a little added hot sauce for mine), board games, and the ball drop at 9 (yeah, we’re cheating for Finley). After he’s asleep, we’ll probably pretend to stay up but both fall asleep on the couch…

    Happy 2024, everyone!

    The Brad

My son is in, so all four grandkids at my place. Three will be sleeping over.

Pot roast for supper, the two older grandkids will shoot a few fireworks (very closely supervised) and ain't nobody gonna be up at MN.

We're going to grill up some nice Omaha steaks, have a little wine and in bed no later than 9. We got in on the redeye at 5:45 am. We don't go out on Amateur Night.

We’re in the city for a very expensive lovely night. Staying at the Essex with a view of Central Park. Going to dinner and jazz tonight.

Nice. We just popped a prosecco, so bedtime has been moved up to 8.

                  Nice view!

Gonna do a few (leftover) fireworks with the kids after dinner, then normal bedtime. Last year I didn’t stay up until midnight for the first time, and I suspect the same today. Need the sleep!

I bought a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting for desert.

                    Maybe some whiskey and Netflix.

I played golf yesterday, I played golf today, and while normal people will be in bed enjoying the hangover, I'll play golf tomorrow at around sunrise, as usual.

                    Happy New Year

                            Well that was certainly interesting.

We're just at home hanging out. Then I realized I couldn't find Moki. Or the cats.

Moki had wedged herself underneath a hallway dresser, which she's never done before. The cats were also in weird corners of the house. We got the bun out from her hiding spot just to keep an eye on her and left the cats where they were.

                            Then the storm hit.

The wind was so rough it was shaking the windows. It's not like they're single-pane or anything. Then hail so bad it was setting off car alarms. And something that I realize isn't that rare but for me was a new experience: green lightning. I don't mean had a green tinge, I'm talking I fully expected Voldemort to be behind the lightning.

Still going through now but it's not nearly as dramatic. One hell of a storm.

                            Please love yourself.

What, a middle aged guy with money? Is there any more desirable position for a guy to be in? 😆

I’m worried that Luke might be a little too mature. He Messengered us at 7:10 (12:10) in London. He, Hanna, and friends were back from the pub, toasted New Years in the hotel bar, and were on their way back to their rooms so they could have a good night’s sleep before the parade.

These are 21 year olds, visiting London… On New Year’s Eve…

I would have been crawling back into the room sometime between 5AM and 7AM…
