Let's just say that morale has not improved since we completely abandoned the idea of a hybrid work pattern that we were on the verge of adopting in late 2019.

Again, Federal Employees should absolutely be required to work in offices clearly labeled and publicly accessible with adequate cybersecurity and networks. Computers, mobile devices, etc that are used for work should be secured and remain on premises. Allowing Federal employees to work at home violates the transparency and accountability that is demanded of public servants.

I wouldn't have a problem with cutting the Federal workforce back to the levels of when Obama left office.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind if their jobs were made to be such a pain in the ass that 1/3 quit and rather than be replaced, we restructured the entire thing. But since that won’t happen, I will be satisfied with their work being conducted in a secure but transparent Government facility with full accountability to the public.

The Federal civilian workforce has grown 7% under Biden. I think we could cut 10% and not miss a beat.
I also think we have too many contractors working for the military. I know it may cost a little money, but I'd like to see the military go back to the days when it used all military personnel for food services, etc. And... I'd like to institute the Marines' rifleman requirements in all services. ALL personnel from company commander on down, should have to qualify with small arms each year.

All very laudable, as is my wish for an end to world hunger.
In my experience, there's government, and there's government. I've never worked for either, but there are some areas I've worked with in the field of industrial safety who appear woefully underfunded. Like most very large organizations, the bureaucracy soaks up a lot, and you're left with much fewer people doing the actual work.

In my experience, there's government, and there's government. I've never worked for either, but there are some areas I've worked with in the field of industrial safety who appear woefully underfunded. Like most very large organizations, the bureaucracy soaks up a lot, and you're left with much fewer people doing the actual work.
That's because if you want more money in government, you need the title and X number of TO's under you. So there is a very strong push to "create" managerial slots that aren't really required. You shuffle papers, attend meetings and do intense planning before lunch or after your nap.
