      Although all this stuff does make you wonder about Mother Nature having an immune system of her own. Maybe there's just too big an infestation of us.

                  What’s the science behind the lightening in the middle of the eruption?

                  Also. What was the total landmass that was wiped out in 30 seconds? That was unbelievable.

                    Volcanic lightning is an electrical discharge caused by a volcanic eruption, rather than from an ordinary thunderstorm. Volcanic lightning arises from colliding, fragmenting particles of volcanic ash, which generate static electricity within the volcanic plume, leading to the name dirty thunderstorm.
