I’m friends with one of those folks listed above btw. They are very sincere.

There is a very easy path from self-interest or social pressures or political/social/economic advantage, to genuine sincerity. In fact, not taking that path requires a great deal of reflection and intention. Humans are wired to take that path. Sincerity when it comes to politics actually means very little. The easiest person to fool is oneself, as the saying goes. Every true believer in every idiotic idea in the history of the universe has been sincere.

In my 40 or so years living near DC and knowing the folks that work for the government, there are broad categories of what motivates people. Certainly you have those who want power (control), those who want money (lobbyists), those who want the partisan competition (it is fun, no?), those who just want a steady income and to keep their heads down, those who follow a powerful person around, and those who are idealists who study and work hard to improve and serve the country regardless of the power, money, or politics behind it. And you can imagine how each group reacted as January 6th unfolded.

You'd think that would tell the MAGA-cons something. Or in the case if Trump goes to prison... a future ex-con. 😄

      Send him to prison.

      Please.

Actually, I think it was John McCain. Unless you're talking about a different incident involving Jimmy.

In 1999, McCain too faced backlash from the Army and the public for his Arlington ad. He admitted he erred and removed the two seconds of footage from the ad.

The Army had previously released a statement saying McCain had not asked permission to film at the cemetery and that any request to do so would have been denied because partisan activity is banned at Army installations.

Trump, meanwhile, has doubled down, insisting in a Tuesday Truth Social post that "there was no conflict" at the cemetery and that "it was a made-up story by Comrade Kamala and her misinformation squad," despite his own campaign spokespeople discussing the situation with Newsweek last week.

He has also rebuked the criticism that he should not have taken photographs, saying that he did so because the families asked him to.

Trump's campaign later accused the staff member of being a "despicable individual" who was having a "suffering from a mental health episode," leading to the U.S. Army publicly rebuking Trump's campaign and defending its staff member.

In 1999, Jimmy would have been 11.

If Trump spoke about my father the way he did about McCain, I'd have a hard time voting for him, too.

How many prominent Democrats or ex-Democrats have endorsed PResident Trump? I know that Rep. Gabbard is one.

If there were any prominent democrats they would all endorse Mr. Trump.
