What the map doesn't show...A lot of the track & field athletes from all over the world, go to college and train in the U.S.

      Yeah, that's what I don't get. There was a girl from ... I don't remember where. As American as a Tri-Delt cheerleader.

      She represented - Palestine.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Exactly my thought as well. A map showing medals from where people actually live. Reminds me of Eileen Gu (born in California, her dad is American, her mom moved here from China when she was in her 20s), but does she compete for the USA in the 2022 Olympics? No, she picked China. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eileen_Gu

At least she made lots of money from Chinese sponsorships.

Or locally... there was a headline about this kid who made the Olympics for Taekwondo. I thought it was cool! Until I realized he was going as a member of Gambia... even though he was born in Minnesota and raised here. His dad is from Gambia.

Yeah, but they are crushing Africa.

That said, we are nothing as a country if not competitive.

That makes Pakistan's win in the javelin throw even more impressive.

Yeah, I would have expected Africa and Cleveland to have done better in the spear chucking categories…

                      Yeah, that's what I don't get. There was a girl from ... I don't remember where. As American as a Tri-Delt cheerleader.

                      She represented - Palestine.

Wow had no idea he was American. So stupid…his dad is American, his mom moved to America as an adult. But he picked Sweden…probably because the US has a harder “olympic trials, do or die” approach to making the team but in Sweden you get on the team from cumulative points. Plus they pay a salary.

                            What a shame.

He's the #1 guy in the world. Has been a phenom since he was in high school.

His dad is the Swedish pole vaulting coach. I think dad makes decent money coaching the lads.

The coupling of athletes to nationalities is rather unnecessary.
You don’t want athletes telling you how to run a country.
