20 years ago there would be a zero % chance of the conspiracy getting foiled. Let's see how this one turns out.

    Education is extremely important.

dow = Department of Public Works

Kelleher is cop living across the street

Library footage would have shown defendant's care being delivered to police station sally port

Colin has a history of violence and fighting

Victim was found wearing only one shoe, and no belt (video of victim at a bar shows a belt)

      Just amazing stuff.

This is all a bit close to home. I saw she was from Mansfield, so I Googled her address. I used to cycle past her house every few weeks - not just close, but right past it.

        I was only joking

I'm watching this trial live as it happens. Truly fascinating.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_John_O'Keefe

Basically, Karen Read, girlfriend of a Canton MA cop is accused of killing him by backing her car into him after a fight, breaking the tail light on her Lexus SUV.

He wanted to attend a late night party at another cop's house, and she didn't. Words were exchanged, and she left. She goes home. Drunkeness and cops behaving badly ensue at the house. Read's boyfriend's body is found on the front lawn of the house.

Read awakens, finds boyfriend not at home. Returns to scene where she allegedly says "I hit him!"

          Defense says it's all a cover-up and she's framed.

          Problems

          • you can't break a tail light by hitting a person, unless it's at speed.
          • Nest cam at Reads apartment show her backing up and touching another car - at the exact same spot where Commonwealth claims she hit bf.
          • autopsy photos show mutiple scratch - bite marks on arm and defensive wounds on hand
          • homeowner of site deleted all data and reset his phone ONE DAY before being issued an order to protect the phone.

Much much more that's shady. We're now 2 weeks into the trial, and the defense STILL hasn't put their case up, and the Commonwealth STILL hasn't provided evidence of how the bf died, expert witnesses, etc.

          Totally into this case.

Autopsy photos - does this look like a car hit the cop?

CW brought in their forensics expert who showed pictures of many things. Among them was the jacket that O'Keefe was wearing. Multiple punctures and hols on the right sleeve. Here is is, next to a photo of his arm injuries.

Here's a closeup of the holes - this is from being hit by a car?

Doesnt look good. I dont think I have to be an expert witness to tell that did not come from a car.

              Doesnt look good.

This trial is a total disaster. The CW (Commonwealth) told the Court that their part of the case would take about 5-6 weeks, and the defense said 2-3.

Today is day 20 of court, but we are in the 6th week - court is not every day. The CW prosecutor is the worst, most disorganized lawyer I've eve seen. He was called over 55 witnesses, so far, and asked them dozens, hundreds, of irrelevant questions. He asked what they drank at the bar before the "after-party," what they were wearing. He asked every first-responder and other cop about their training, experience, etc.

This testimony was, after 19 days of trial the FIRST time we saw forensics, or any other professional testimony, other than the dog DNA expert.

So, here we are - with nothing, yet, to prove their case.

Meanwhile, the defense just said that they're going to need 3-4 days for their part of the trial. They've done such a great job of asking question in cross-examination of these witnesses that they've provided more than a little reaasonable doubt.

              More from yesterday.

It's alleged that Read backed her Lexus SUV into O'Keefe, killing him. She supposedly hit him in the right - rear portion of the car, shattering her taillight lens. Much video of her car after being impounded which could prove the taillight was intact has gone missing. After the car was towed to the police station, surveillance video of the garage goes blank for 42 minutes.

And then there's this. The CW showed a photo of a piece of the right-rear taillight lens.

              Screenshot 2024-06-05 at 6.30.56 AM.png

Shattered into, I believe 47, pieces. HEre's the largest one.

Now, here's a photo that shows an intact Lexus SUV taillight lens.

Look at the two indentations and tell me which one is consistent with the evidence.

              Screenshot 2024-06-05 at 6.32.13 AM.png

It's possible that the evidence photo is taken from the other side of the lens (the inside of it). I really want to believe that, because believing that the cops are that stupid would be worse.

To be honest, I have a hard time believing that reversing into somebody would shatter my rear tail-light. People are kind of squishy.

If I were the defense, I would have an expert witness testify to the strength of polycarbonate and the force required to shatter a taillight lens into 45 pieces (which took over two weeks to recover, by the way).

If I lived in Canton, MA (which I did at one time), I'd be sorely tempted to put up a sign with 'Defund the Police' on my front lawn.

Never mind their alleged dishonesty, but the apparent stupidity and incompetence almost beggars belief.

There was no blood found on the car.

One attorney (she's a defense attorney in WA state who also does appellate work) said, "Blood seeps into the crevices of things like nuts and bolts or other joints that aren't completely sealed. This is why it is so difficult to remove blood evidence just by surface cleaning; in many cases you'd need to disassemble an item to clean it of all blood traces."

"t’s why the vehicles in vehicular homicides are like “rolling crime scenes” when directly involved in causing a death, transporting a body & even when transporting a murder weapon (or other evidence) containing trace blood."

Look at the pic of the jacket - all that blood, and none on the car?

                      Then, there's the magical hair.

Forensic examiner found a hair on the side of the SUV - I believe she said it was a human hair, but not proven to be the victim's. It was on the side of the vehicle. She was able to remove the hair with a pair of tweezers.

                      Screenshot 2024-06-05 at 7.25.52 AM.png

This photo was taken in the police station garage.

After the car had been driven from the scene to the defendant's parents' house, after it had been loaded onto a tow truck, after it had been driven about 40 minutes.

                                It gets better.

After O'Keefe's body is found, and the car is towed all over Massachusetts, it arrives at the police station. There are no photos of the passenger-side rear taillight being damaged

State Trooper testifies that this video (which was miraculously found days ago) is a fair and accurate representation of the scene in the garage. Note, the passenger tail light is supposedly visible, though it's impossible to tell if there's any damage to it.

                                Screenshot 2024-06-07 at 3.35.35 PM.png

Look at the lettering on the police car closer to the camera. Notice anything? Yeah, the lettering is backward.

The entire video has been (or recorded) flipped, so it APPEARS we're looking at the passenger side, but we're not. It's the driver's side.

So, now that we know that, here's the video of what it ACTUALLY looked like in the sallyport.

Look at 0:07 to 0:24 or so...what's going on on the passenger's side?

I think it's part of this thread topic. The DOJ and specifically the FBI...Well, this is a basic part of their mission, to make sure local and state cops do not violate victim's civil rights or corrupt the justice system. A lot of time, effort and money has been spent by Justice in the last few years, chasing things that are really on the periphery of what they ought to be doing.

There is only so much time, money and resources available. Take care of the big things first.

Butt-dialing is now just a catch all for accidentally called. I’ve done it with my phone in my pocket.

                                          At 2 AM?

With your phone on the nightstand?

When you were testified that you were asleep?

And the person you buttdialed happened to return your buttdial, with the calls lasting minutes? At 2AM?

Also, @jolly, there is a federal investigation ongoing as well. Nobody knows what that is all about - yet.
