At least that's my experience at home depot. We made a spur of the moment purchase of a smoker a week ago, and the in-store sign said free delivery and assembly. It was in the evening, and there weren't many floor employees. I asked how to buy one of the grills, and they told me to take a picture of the code and bring it to customer service. I did, and spent about 20 minutes there with the customer service person, trying to figure out how to use the system. Finally got it purchased, and I verified a few times that the assembly would be included. She said yes. I was skeptical, because I watched her enter the order on the system, and I didn't see a checkbox for assembly. She added it as a note on the order. So my hopes were pinned on someone reading a note on an order, and doing something about it. Pretty hopeless. Today the grill was delivered, in the box. The delivery guys are not in the assembly business. Oh well. I don't really mind assembling it myself anyway. Looking forward to the prime brisket I got at costco yesterday.

Sorry to hear. That’s annoying. Might be worth speaking to the manager about only under the premise that maybe he’ll give you $50 or $100 of accessories or something

Looks like installation is $119. At least here. You should pursue that, could get some cool accessories such as a wireless meat thermometer or beer to drink while you’re waiting next to it.

Do you have the receipt, or the order, showing that assembly was included?

I can just see them saying, “nope we don’t do that. “

I suspect it applies to in stock units, not ordered online.

There's a sign in the store, and they should still have the note on the order in their internal system.

There were two hunks of meat in the Costco pack. Not sure if that’s normal.

It's at 170 internal after 12 hours at 225. I wrapped them in butcher paper and put them back in at 250. Hopefully they'll be probe tender by lunch. Not so tender at 170, but it smells good. This'll feed me for a week.

Thanks 89th! One of my prerequisites was a place with a nice backyard view. Either trees or a pond/lake. I agree it adds up as a gestalt of living in a place. Better than a cold wooden fence, and only a marginal extra price for the home.
