If I thought they could win I’d go manchin. I wouldn’t intentionally vote for a lost cause though.

    My thoughts as well.

Manchin seems, for the most part, to be a reasonable guy. But I don't see his role in 2024 as anything but that of Ross Perot spoiler. The question is who will he spoil?

With that kind of thinking, nobody would have voted for Mr. Trump in 2016.

      Manchin.

No, he clearly had a shot on election day.

I’m more curious to hear from some of the left leaning folk. Would @jon-nyc go with a Manchin?

Anybody who considers Trump an existential risk, would game their vote to maximize the chance of beating Trump. At that point it just becomes finger to the wind stuff about Trump's opponents, and whichever of them stands the best chance of winning.

In 92 we had two main party candidates who were well qualified. It’s not looking like that for 24.

                              1. The biggest fallout from the November election isn't going to be any election result, but how we decide to react. We could have Portland on steroids in every major city if we wanted to. Or we could suck it the fuck up and react maturely. I'm not holding my breath.
                              2. It's my silly opinion that we've reached late-stage Boomer-era progress. Because I think Ted's right about the following, I find political discourse, from Manchin or otherwise, largely irrelevant: https://www.honest-broker.com/p/i-ask-seven-heretical-questions-about

This is a legit concern if Trump wins (it will be chaos, because the adults in the room at the levers of institutional power will collectively throw hysterical temper tantrums, and nobody around them will the adult to their child). But I don't see any issues if Biden wins again, beyond some local and easily put down unrest. Everybody will get back to normal life within a few days.

Of the 3 choices, Manchin. The only one who hasn’t lost his mind.

Same. But I also don't give a shit.

No, too wordy. A good article would succinctly list all seven questions right at the start.
